OT: San Diego Hotels

Searching online, trying to find a hotel with easy access to the beach and shops/restaurants/bars. Do not mind paying extra for a nice place. Hilton Resort in Mission Bay looks like it has great beach access but far away from shops and bars. Any good recommendations?
