Tough start to the year. So many legends falling.
As long as we still have Luther Vandross and Barry White!
I am REALLY, REALLY, REALLY trying to avoid becoming an old fuddy duddy who thinks the world is going to hell, kids nowadays are lazy, entitled, yada, yada, yada. Yes, a 1970 Oldsmobile 442 with 455 cubes and the W30 package was an awesome car cranking out 370 ponies and did the quarter in 13.9. It got around 10 MPG city. A 2015 Ford Shelby GT Mustang gets 15 MPG city, has 526 HP, runs the quarter in 11 seconds, handles great and stops in half the distance as the 442. It is not like modern cars aren't super hot and super fun and yes, better than the cars I grew up with.I have said many times over to friends and relatives. The music industry is literally quaking in their boots as these performers who have great longevity are starting to age and will be passing on over the next several years. There is no one around in the pop music world now that's going to hang on like Elton John, Neil Diamond, the Rolling Stones, Eagles etc. Today you have cookie cutter "artists" who at most get a couple of hits then just disappear Black Eyed Peas, Miley Cyrus et al won't be performing in 2050 or beyond they just don't connect, and can't you just see this generation of old folks with their walkers and wheelchairs going to the "Virtual Reality Arena/Dome" to watch the holograms of these people play because they're no longer cranking out any hits.
That being said, I listen to current music for an hour every day at the gym. The music is uninspired, boring, angry noise. Comparing expert musicians using all kinds of instruments like Earth Wind and Fire, the Moody Blues, ELO, Pink Floyd, Temptations, Yes, Elton John, etc. etc. to the noise I hear at the gym is, well, no comparison.
i remember a slow dance or two, to this...good memories.
