OT:question about 2017 eclipse in Lincoln

We were viewing yesterdays eclipse from Lincoln and watching coverage on TV as well. It seemed to us that it really never got very dark here in '17 compared to what was being shown yesterday along the path of totality. Anyone else experience the same thing?
