Prayers going out. After the crash in Mississippi that lost 16 and the Navy destroyer accident that lost 7, this is a rough year.
Thank you for your courage and service. We had to move our ship out to sea one time because a Hurricane was barreling up the east coast (we were stationed in Norfolk). On our way back I was given the opportunity to ride in a CH-46 and buzz Bermuda. I took that opportunity. I took some pictures. The ones inside the craft turned out good. The one from the air was garbage. If that thing went down we would have been effed. Like the movies, we sat sideways unrestrained on a bench. Would do it again, if I could. Looked a lot like this picture.

Thank you for your courage and service.
I would wish the same thanks to yours as well. Our selfless men and women, (police, fire, all branches of military), don't get enough respect.I appreciate the kind words, but I never felt I did much dangerous duty. I suppose that it could have turned bad at any time. I met a guy in class last summer that was in Fallujah. I had another friend who was an MP and part of Desert Storm. My uncle did three tours of Nam in the infantry. My nephew is currently training in Camp Pendleton in EOD. Now, those are dangerous duties!
My grandfather was in line to nuke Japan. My other grandfather fought in Korea. I have many many friends who have gone to war or are in reserve.I appreciate the kind words, but I never felt I did much dangerous duty. I suppose that it could have turned bad at any time. I can't thank your family enough. None of us can, for all, servicemen and women. My family lost a member in Guadal Canal and another in Okinawa. I had an uncle that was in the Navy during WWII and my father was in the Army Air Corps in WWII. Did the Berlin Airlift. I know there are others. I know of an uncle that was a Major in the Civil War. My sister was a Marine. That's why her son (my nephew) joined the Marines.
