I'm pondering three things this morning and welcome your thoughts:
1. Have you ever given or received for Christmas one of those shiny high-end sedans that are advertised on TV with a big bow on it? Do you know anyone who has? No, I don't wear the pants exclusively in my family, but I can't imagine anyone who's fiscally responsible just going out and dropping $60K without checking with their partner first. I guess I'm old fashioned, huh?
2. I feel terrible for the boy who has been bullied at school and who did a video that went viral. It's not right and someone needs to step in and stop it from happening. The outpouring of support for him from celebrities and everyone has been great, but I fear that all of the attention he's getting is only going to make things worse for him when he returns. Some kids may treat him as a celebrity, but others will have ill will and continue to make things difficult for him; if not now, then when the dust settles and he has to go back to being a normal kid. Hope I'm wrong.
3. I watched a good portion of Army v. Navy on Saturday and it was a great game. The pageantry, the passion of the cadets in attendance and the relentless play on both sides make it something that's now on my bucket list. I have to admit that when I was in my teens and early 20s, I thought it was boring and I rarely watched it because it didn't matter much to me. Fortunately, my appreciation for these young men and the significance of the game has grown over the decades and I think it's an amazing spectacle and these are special people who are a part of it. Wondering if others have experienced this type of change in how they view the game?
