Great documentary on Netflix about American men’s tennis as Sampras and co are retiring and Andy Roddick takes helm as US #1. And then Mardy Fish’s unexpected ascent

A young Roddick wears a lot of Husker hats

I dove with Lawrence Roddick back in the early 80's in Omaha and remember when Andy was running around in diapers. Three year old Andy was a non-stop ball of energy that got himself into a lot of trouble with mom and dad as no one could keep up with him.

Cool. Andy talks alot in the doc about how his dad was an Army guy and really reinforced discipline and toughness. He moved to FL when he was a young fella. They said when he was at the tennis academy and was serving ...everyone would stop what they were doing to watch.

The Mardy Fish part was so cool. He was just an adequate tour player, making a nice living. Old friends with Andy. Lost to him 9x in a row. And then right before he turns 30, decides to see if he could make a run and the top guys if he worked out like crazy and changed his entire life style. Fish ends becoming the #7 player in the world and the US#1,, beats Roddick twice in a row, and then Roddick decides to retire at 30.

Then Fish has massive mental health/anxiety issues, and has to withdraw from a 4th Rd US Open match with Fed.
