OT: Mystery drones across Nebraska

Let's see.. When you can buy the American made washer and dryer or the Chinese made washer and dryer for the same price, most people know what the right answer is... then multiply that across many products and industries. We could have a skyrocketing economy after the effects of the disruption are over.
Yep, prices have nowhere to go but up.

I'm guessing some of these NJ drones, at least the "large ones", belong to people who have more money than sense. I find it hard to believe that these are the size of a small vehicle, though.

I saw two drones over Lincoln back in 2020 when we had all of those original sightings. They were far enough away I couldn't hear any sound from them, and I would have expected them to be about 6' across although I'm no expert on such things. I think that's still in the hobbyist class of drones.

I don't believe the powers that be would allow hobbyist drones to hover over some of the places they have been sighted. We either can't bring them down or don't want to.

The drone sightings seem to be concentrated over areas which in fact have sensitive military or national defense facilities. We're naive to think it's anything other than a bad actor seeking detailed information and testing or ability to detect and destroy drones. First it was balloons. Now its drones.

I know a guy in my area with two large ag drones. He sprayed 9,000 acres with them this year.

I get what you are saying, but why are they not being shot down? The Iranians were able to hack and land one of our high end drones 10ish years ago. We can't do that? Drones have been an issue for years and we have ways of dealing with them. Why are they not being dealt with in this case?

I agree, with respect to dingle, he has a simplistic view of the reality.

As to your last paragraph, there's no question our military is running a psy ops with the drones. They don't let unknown vessels circle bases, especially nuclear bases and not know who's operating them. First, they run a F-16 past to see its not manned or a person is dead, then they would issue a warning and then they would shoot it down.
It's all a bullshit psy ops.

If the tariff thing takes off, you are correct, prices on many things are gonna skyrocket. Do we really think China is gonna pay for those price increases via tariffs?
I dunno. They let those damned balloons fly over our facilities until the public called them out on it. They've also let Chinese affiliated corporations buy up land adjacent to military installations. There is ZERO doubt that China is executing reconnaissance missions with drones in our country. They just caught one guy and arrested him before he could flee the country.

Sleepy let the Chinese spy balloons fly over our military facilities for months before the public finally raised the alarm. I don't know if they can gather more information than some of the satellite imagery they're able to gather. Somebody on the radio the other day that they can gather more specific GPS information of potential targets than you can get from a satellite without real time video control of the weapon. My first thought of the drones flying over some the areas was that they were being controlled and being used in training exercises by the military. IF that were true, why wouldn't the military admit it?

I'm now convinced that at least some of the larger drones are being operated by adversaries testing our air defenses over or near sensitive areas. The problem with trying to shoot them down over populated areas is that there would undoubtably be collateral damage on the ground.

You ever stop to think that those drones were seeding the air with Covid? It was pretty strange they appeared in December of 2019 and 5 weeks later we have Covid.

I think the democrats in New Jersey would agree that it's a non-partisan issue.
You brought the SPR into a discussion on drones and the military. It's clear you don't know what you're talking about. Your partisan comment was at the end of a post about oil. It was clearly a partisan take.

This thread reminds me the time when it was started…and that fvcking sucks. Don’t get dragged back down into the political rhetoric and nonsense.

Apparently they matter now, as they are being seen on a coast. In 2020 they were all over south central Nebraska. Out of our back yard (in town, next to one of our elementary schools) on a couple of occasions, it was at least a dozen of them, in an obvious grid pattern, doing something. One hundred percent suspicious then, as it is now.

The tariffs mentioned are likely posturing for negotiations. That said, because of it those conversations to bring manufacturing back to the US are already happening. When you outsource the building of complex products to Mexico, it is typically a shit show.
It brought jobs back last and would have brought more if there would have been a 2nd term. Now the question is will there be only 4 years again
