Do. Not. Go. If your kids HAVE to go, do all you can to have spouse, aunt, grandparent, complete stranger, to take them. I think even my kids were ready to leave 1/2 way through. Terrible movie.

Not only NO LAUGHS...but anti-American blather to boot. Lots of spanish & french speaking...plus I guess the writer doesn't think America won the space race by stepping on the moon.

If you generally didn't like Despicable Me (or you are averse to silly humor), I'm guessing you'll agree with the OP. On the other hand, if you like what the Minions bring to the comedy table, then I think you'll enjoy it. I thought it was worth the price of admission and my kids would like to see it again.

My kids and I enjoyed despicable me very much. This movie wasn't anything like it, but I am glad someone enjoyed it.

Wife and I took our kids to see, "Inside Out," and saw the previews for Minions. Looked like lots of bathroom humor to carry the comedy load. I am burned out on cartoons with bathroom humor to influence young audiences. Kids deserve much better. On the other hand, "Inside Out" was really, really good. Truly clever, well-written, instructive, funny and moving! HIGHLY recommend that one.:D

Broke my longstanding rule of not seeing animated movies without kids in a theater with Inside Out. Toy Story may have been the last one I really enjoyed as I am not much of an animated fan. The wife loved Inside Out and I will recommend for the thought-process and writing in this alone.
When seeing the Minion trailer, I have to admit I chuckled but not enough to pay the $10 and a small fortune in snacks to go see.

Fiance and I went to see it. It was what we expected. Mindless entertainment. Had some laughs and that was about it. Inside Out was tremendous.

LOL yea my family hated this attempt at a movie.

We really liked the Despicable Me movies, but Minions was terrible. Also, some of the fight scenes were a little much for our 3 year old (just turned 3). Something to think about if you have little kids that really want to go because they think the Minions are cute.

I went and saw Inside Out yesterday. Very well done. Thanks for the heads up on Minions. It may not be the worst movie in the world, but I can wait to see it at home.

I love the Despicable Me movies. I didn't have huge expectations going into Minions honestly. I think you need to go into it just expecting mindless entertainment.

As for Inside Out, I didn't even know about it until I went to Disney in May and saw all the advertisement. I kinda just wanted to go see it but then Richard Roeper basically came out and said it's on his short list for Best Picture. I was like, WHAT?! So we decided to go see it and absolutely loved it. It had everything you could want from a movie and it was in an animated form. Plus it's been HUGE with critics. Has like 99 percent fresh on rotten tomatoes and for an animated film, that's pretty solid.
