Dr. Yahuhiro Suzuki believes that exposure to a similar Corona Virus prior to the spread of COVID is why Asian countries have largely been spared the type of death loss that Western Countries including the U.S. have experienced. Given Fauci's statement earlier this summer that research is showing that people who in this country who have had previous Corona Virus colds seem to have some protection from COVID, this is the most logical explanation in the differing experiences with COVID world wide.

Other tidbit I'm hearing more and more scientists say that vaccination is going to provide immunity for several years instead of the months some fear mongers have proposed.

Would be good news on vaccination. I thought annual booster was the plan

Getting it doesnt give you immunity just the antibodies that dissipate over time leaving you vulnerable to catching again. Its totally random how this hits people differently. I tested positive last week and have been achey and tired with a loss of appetite but have no breathing issues and have the ability to smell and taste. I am doing distance learning and have still been able to teach since I am isolated

Personally, if getting it gives immunity, I hope I get it

Wife tested positive for it. Myself and kid tested negative twice. Wife only felt tired... now is fine. Glad it wasn’t severe and glad I didn’t get that crap.

My wife did as well, about 3 months back. We (me, her, and my 3 year old son) all had typical cold symptoms, maybe a little more cough than normal but thats about it. Mine started out with a sore throat, none of us ever had a fever.

My son tested negative, I never got tested because I had to quarantine either way. Being 3, though, they'd barely gotten the swab in his nose so I'm guessing they didn't get a quality sample.

My wife and I sent saliva and blood in for an antibody test, a coworker of mine's cousin works for a biotech firm in Maryland so they wanted some samples to add to their data. We both came back positive for antibodies so whether I had it then or asymptomatically at some point, I've definitely had it.

Careful dingle the mask stormtroopers will get your address

It wasn't fear mongering. No one actually knows, including you. You are the one who posted that we would probably need annual boosters (at least 100 times.) Were you fear mongering the whole time?
The fear mongers were saying that immunity from the virus was only going to last for a couple of months based on serum antibody levels and likewise they were downplaying how long any immunity from vaccination would last. I have said all along that I expected vaccinal immunity to last for a year at least. I have been one of the biggest vaccination boosters on this board from all the way back in April. Anybody who downplays the importance of vaccination and it's effectiveness is not being very wise.

Good masks worn properly help slow the spread of the virus. Period. The problem is that the majority of Americans including most of the politicians are wearing crappy masks improperly and spending WAY too much time in close proximity to random people. Most of the spread we're seeing in our area is in the workplace which then gets spread to their family.

99% recovery rate, same as your avg flu season. The pandemic of scientific illiteracy has me worried. Thanks common core.
The problem is that there is no vaccine for more susceptible people. I just lost an acquaintance who had retired 6 months ago at age 65. He was in relatively good shape physically but I don't know if he had any comorbidities. He's a guy who took the annual flu vaccine. He would have taken the COVID vaccine if it had gotten here earlier.

Getting it in 99.999999% of the cases is going to give you a long lasting immunity. I don't know what Dr. told you that you wouldn't have immunity, but he's talking out of his ass. IF you take dexamethasone while you are sick, it may decrease your level of immune response to the virus but not completely block it. Immunity does not mean that you won't potentially be able to be infected with a little different strain later on. What it means that is that in the vast majority of cases IF you get infected months later, you will be unlikely to become ill from the infection and likely won't shed virus.

Keep fighting the good fight.
The real problem is we have transformed ourselves from a biological species into a political species.
Oh I know, someone is gonna say "rona isn't about politics"
That's all its about. I worried we were doomed when our leaders started arguing we should get rid of the automobile and cow farts would lead to the apocalypse.
Then we started giving out dozens of Nobel and Pulitzer prizes for idiots who pushed anti-reality narratives.
Ya know what irrationally frightened people do in a wealthy society? ... they submit to lunatics who riot whenever a criminal is harmed by police, and they self-destruct over the flu.
Global Anarcho-Marxism won.

We need some posthumous awards for this guy.

Sorry to hear of the loss of your friend, haven’t lost anyone close yet, came pretty close with a family friend that spent 2 months in the hospital and is still struggling to get back to normal.

I voted for Trump for reasons other than his handling of COVID. That said, I'm pissed at him for "owning" the pandemic and making mask wearing such a huge campaign issue. Those daily press conferences he had were stupid. He blew it. He would have likely won in a landslide if he had handled things differently but instead IF the Georgia Senate races go to the Democrats, we will have changes made to our country which will virtually destroy future economic opportunities for our children. In the states where Democrats have gotten control of all branches of government they have become one party socialist failures.

Thanks. I have another 75 year old Lymphoma survivor friend with severe heart disease who has had it for a month but just spent a few days finally in the hospital. He's doing much better now that he got sick enough to where he would listen to his Drs. It's strange how random this virus is and even though it is true the death rates are very low, you just don't know who is going to die from it. We're seeing lots of 80 - 90 year olds doing well with it IF they're in otherwise good health and then you get the random 65 year old who seems okay die from it.

Assuming that's true, which it isn't, is a mitigation technique that's so delicate and has apparently failed in every instance, even worth even bringing up?

Most of the spread we're seeing in our area is in the workplace which then gets spread to their family.

Even in states where contract tracing is extreme they can't figure out where it is spreading from.

I'll be at the bar for the Chiefs game tonight. I'll get ya a margarita.

I would likely have joined you for that drink IF I were 30 years younger. I appreciate your dedication to destroying the false sense of security wearing masks generates. That said, I'll still keep wearing mine in stores to prevent somebody from launching a virus filled goober at me with an ill timed sneeze. Even the CDC always adds "keep your distance" from other people when they encourage masks. Why is that? It's because masks alone are not nearly enough to stop spread.

Uncertain if it works like that and I think even you have your doubts.

Distance would be common sense, but if so it's surprising so many nursing home and prison populations have had such high transmission.

I don't have all the answers. But I have a strong sense we're being fed a lot of garbage.

We're 10+ months into 2 weeks to flatten the curve and less than 5% of the population has tested positive using a test that is undoubtedly finding tons of false positives. And the cycle threshold is being run at such a high rate the results are useless unless a person has symptoms which are pretty much everything. On top of that the avg age of death is 82. Life expectancy is 78. The US is testing more than any other country and using these fraudulent methods are finding more "cases" than anyone else. We keep defending failed models that proven wrong in less than a week time after time.

The propaganda, failed policies, and desire to be victims and saviors have created their own pandemics which some govts have only been too happy grant themselves unchecked emergency powers to attempt to push some great reset.

We are living a combination of Animal Farm and 1984 and it's insanity.

That's the attitude I'm seeing now, that trade off of "I have some cloth on my face so nothing matters any more." Masks HELP, they're not magic. And you can't go anywhere without seeing ol' Off-the-nose-Charlie with his giant schnoz hanging out shopping along and touching stuff.

I've been using KN95s since March, as far as I know I haven't caught it but who knows.

We're at about 3,000 deaths a day and people still really don't see the issue with sitting in an airplane full of strangers or dining indoors and the pulling a mask on only when a waiter walks up. That's not how any of this works.

Our CEO has it, he was in the ER for pneumonia symptoms. Our last staff meeting a few weeks back he had everyone who was in-office that day but two of us sitting in the conference room with no masks. You know, because they weren't sitting very close together. I stayed in my office with the door shut and did the meeting on Zoom.

Mind you our jobs are not essential by any means. Everyone but about two people can do all their work remotely. But he has us coming in because that's what he thinks work should look like.

The vaccine is our only hope, and the more places that make it mandatory the better. We've seen that 2-3 hundred thousand deaths doesn't even come between some people and a cheeseburger.

The media won't dare bring up Florida - where they are fully open. It used to be they couldn't wait to eviscerate DeSantis.

They might have a worse wave later on, but right now their open model shows the best outcome. Compare that to Illinois. Where restriction are plentiful and the epidemiologist who advises the govt still references the IMHE even though they've been wrong the entire time.

DeSantis is the man. Him Abbott and Noem are my early picks for 2024

So much dishonesty and willful disregard to contradictory and pertinent data.

What's the word for people who try to live in false realities?

Me: Okay. It's 2020. That's satisfies my drastically lowered expectations.
