A casino in Gering would draw a lot of customers from northern Colorado. There are already casinos in Colorado, but people from the Fort Collins area - where the population has exploded - don't want to hassle with going to Blackhawk or Central City. And anytime there's a proposal to put casinos where the people are, the big existing casinos follow the Council Bluffs model and form ridiculously fake "grassroots" opposition groups to warn everyone about the evils of gambling.I saw a drawing and everything of it posted somewhere and Gering approved it I think.
