Just posting something kind of fun, board is a little heavy these days.

Any fall/winter brews that you guys like and recommend? Here's my list, off the top of my head:

-Sam Adams Octoberfest
-Founder's Breakfast Stout
-Founder's Porter
-Thunderhead Cornstalker
-Sierra Nevada Tumbler (although I haven't seen it out yet)

And for the posters who just love Bud/Miller/Coors garbage, feel free to start another thread. :D

-Most Octoberfests are great.
-Blue Moon makes a great Pumpkin Ale.
-And once winter comes, chocolate stouts and oatmeal stouts all the way.

Woodford Reserve Distillers Select, Makers Mark 46.
Beer is for amateurs

Founder's Backwoods Bastard comes out in November. Always a tasty treat if you are into Scotch Ales/Wee Heavys.

Southern Tier pumking
Boulevard funky pumpkin
Ballast point pumpkin down

Of course winter is prime time stout/imperial porter time not seasonal but...
New holland dragons milk
North coast old Rasputin (barrel aged if you can find it)
Ballast point double black ale stout
And I have a few bottle of KBS stashed away

I'm not a big fan of "fall/winter" brews. I drink what I want when I want. In the past, there was a reason that breweries would have "seasons". Not anymore. It's all a matter of taste. Personally, I prefer a German lager (Hoffbrau, Weihenstephaner, Paulaner, Spaten). Occasionally, I get some doppelboch (Spaten Optimator, Paulaner Salvator). If you haven't tried Ayinger Celebrator Doppelbock you have to do so right away. It is amazing! Yummy flavor, smooth and delicious. Love Samuel Smith's Taddy Porter, Oatmeal Stout and Imperial Stout as well. I also have some Makers 46 sitting on the shelf in my office in case of emergencies. Cool

However, I've been getting in shape as of late. Let myself go. So, I have cut out alcohol for the most part while I work on my goal. I've lost 20 lbs. so far. I'm on Phase II of my workout project. After I got to 16.5 lbs. I treated myself to some beer and a few shots of 46. Then back on my regimen. I do miss my beer. When I get to the weight/shape I am happy with then I will work the alcohol back in when my maintenance mode sets in.

Have you had Spaten's Oktoberfest? The guy in my shop here told me they were the first to do an Oktoberfest. I loved it.

Enjoying Yuengling Octoberfest right now.

I like to make shine, mighty tasty too! Apple Pie, Peach, Blackberry, Cranberry, Blueberry and Italian Limoncello.

We can only get 150 proof grain in WV. We're going to Omaha real soon...I've been told I can get my hands on190 proof! I am going to get as much as I can haul.

I love this time of the year because of the pumpkin beers. A few of my favorites are:

Wasatch: Pumpkin Stout
St. Arnold's: Pumpkinator
Rogue: Pumpkin Patch Ale

All good beers. I had to scale back on the Pumpkin beers. I used to live in Boston (great Husker Bar up there), and I got a little nuts with the pumpkin beers at an NU-Wiscy game. Oh man, being hungover and tasting that pumpkin all day...not fun. LOL

Agreed. Some of the craft beers are like a Ninja. Before you know it you are on the floor half dead begging for your life.

I can relate. Last year I did some Pale Moon Octoberfest 12-pack. Not so great tasting later on. I will leave it at that.

have you tried the myfitnesspal app? I had good success keeping track of everything I eat and watching calories.

I don't think it is out yet in the metro, but check out the Stone winter beer Xocoveza. It is a collaboration with Insurgente. It is a stout with tastes of cinnamon and pepper. It is fantastic.

Kaliber Guinness -- Try it, you will like it plus it's much better for you. It probably should be sold in health food stores. Great taste plus you feel great the next a.m.
