Since there's a slight lull in the action this afternoon, and we need to make a decision fairly quickly, I thought I would post this now.

We currently have a 3 year old male Aussiedoodle. Very well mannered, great temper, fantastic dog.

We would like to get another dog of the same or similar breed. We've met the two puppies in question and are just going through the thought process as to whether it is the right decision to do so, or not.

I work from home, so the dogs will very rarely be left alone for any period of time. We have read that it is "recommended" that if you already have a male, and you're considering getting another dog that you should lean toward a female. Anyone have experience with this?

Also, other than the obvious (double the dog crap, double the food, double the expense, etc.) in your experience, what are other things to consider when adding a second dog to the family?

We don't crate Ozzy today as he is very well-mannered. How do you handle crating the puppy when Ozzy is not crated?

Anyone have experience with Australian Bernedoodles? (Australian Shepherd, Bernese Mountain Dog, Poodle crossbreed)

TIA for your responses.
