OT: Celebrities you’ve met and impressions

Never really met a celebrity one on one. But impressions from a couple speaking events:

1) President (then Senator) Obama at a rally before the Pennsylvania primary at Penn State in 2008. Was about 45 minutes late which was mildly annoying. That said - incredible and inspiring speaker in person. It's not hard to see why he became president twice. I'm not here to debate politics and am not going to engage in that... but I will say I was 14 at the time and rather naive. Take that for what you will and I'll leave it at that.

2) William Shatner - Saw him speak at a comicon a few years back. I'm a big Star Trek nerd. Walter Koenig (Chekov) and a few others were also there that I saw speak. Shatner is what many say - pompous and arrogant. But also a lot of charisma and absolutely hilarious when he speaks. Hard to believe he had all that energy at age 88 or however old he was at the time. I can see how he gets on people's nerves but I very much enjoyed listening to him

Arnold and Maria when they were married, he was alot more personable than she

Alonzo Mourning and Dikembe Mutumbo together on an elevator, both seemed nice but I couldn't understand anything Dikembe was saying

Kevin Costner in passing ... meh

Willie Wilson former outfielder when I was a kid, was really polite

Ronald Reagan...he was awesome

Bob Dole...he was great, spent quite a bit of time with him...no ego at all, very friendly

Dale Evans (Roy Roger's wife)...she was horrible

Just to name a few

Walked past Ben Affleck onboard the Enterprise in the hanger bay 2002 or 3?. At first I was like "WTF are you even doing here Hollywood?" in my head. Then I found out that he supports the troops pretty consistently and now I feel like an ass thinking that. So chalk one up to the regular guy being the A hole, at least privately, and the celeb being solid.

I yelled at Tom Osborne once at Wagon Train lake while fishing with my dad. In my defense he yelled at me first. We were on the boat in the middle of the lake just minding our own business and he was on the shore and wanted to know where the fish were biting. SMH, can you believe that?! Then, a couple years later, he spoke at my church once about mentoring... talk about stalker sauce. Sheesh! Seriously though, he was a fantastic gentleman. May God bless him beyond measure.

Sonny and Cher had a concert at the Civic back in the 70s. I worked at a theatre downtown and we had an after-hours private viewing of the movie for them (I can't recall the movie). Sonny was a gent but Cher was a certifiable cvnt. Treated the employees like shite on her shoe.

Shatner was a racist swine. When Ohura was cast he openly argued against her and it was pretty clear race was the issue. Gene Roddenberry told the network that if she didn't get the part he was gonzo.

Are you Corn Pop?
Are you saying Mack In Mortion is one bad dude?
There was a report recently that Corn Pop actually existed, which I don't think the general public believed what so ever. It was his obit. Corn Pop is now one dead dude. It was a liberal media outlet so they might well have guilded the Lilly some.

I frequented a place that employed a lot of Nebraska football players, mid to late 80's.
Broad brush but narcissistic jerks, the lot of them. I concluded that being 18-20 years old and being told by thousands of people you are incredible was not a mentally healthy thing.
Two stood out. Let's just say I admired Tommie Frazier's on the field performance and leave it at that. He was a grand heal, even to little kids. I get it, they have to be a little stand off-ish or they get smothered by adult wannabe toadies, who are pathetic human beings themselves.
Trev Alberts also stood out. None if the disgusting ego stuff. Everyone had value to him. It was weird watching him a few years later playing bad cop on college football shows. That was purely an act.
Johnny Mitchell prior to his amazing freshman year. He knew a booster I got to be around. Very respectful deep south kid. I was only a few years older than him but he called me sir. His physical talent was jaw dropping. His body type screamed it.

Seagal. Heard many stories from people who know him and worked with him. They all say he is a flaming douche. Maybe you caught him on a good day. Lol
I was on temporary duty at Keesler AFB, MS in the early 90s with some guys from the SF community (I wasn't SF but we had just worked some stuff together and when we got in CONUS they asked me to tag along when they went out to decompress). We went to a casino and Seagal was there. The SF guys bristled and that's when I learned he liked underage girls.

That seems believable.

Remember Don somebody, had a national radio show in the mid 90's.
Said Bill and Hilary Clinton's personalities were the opposite of their public personal.
Claimed Hilary was the friendly, gregarious one. Bill was the cold, offish jerk.

Quite a few yrs ago, at Mistys in Havelock, sat next to Jerry Tagge watching Huskers, Kstate game! We had small conversation about the game! I noticed later it was Tagge! In San Diego Marine Corp recruit depot, 1968, met MOH winner Marine! Gunney Jimmie Howard! In Commander Dr Gilbert's office! At one time the Podiatrist for San Diego Charger! Also met 1964 Tokyo Olympics 10k Gold Metal winner Marine Lt, Billy Mills! All very cordial! Marines had foot problems! I was US Navy Hospital Corpsman!

Bud Crawford after the Creighton Nova game a few years back. We were both waiting for rides/cars. My friends took pics with him, he seemed really nice. I just chatted with his buddy about EA sports, he said Bud totally cheated when they would play.

Played basketball with Frost at the rec at UNL, dude would ALWAYS have to be "skins".

Spent a night co-hosting an event with Adam Sandler (pre-SNL). He was shy and quiet, not what you would expect.

Played pick up basketball with Poison during their 1991 (?) tour. Bret was great. We rode back in the hotel van with the group (my roommate was the driver) and when we got back there were a bunch of high school aged girls waiting for us for autographs. I got out of the van behind CC and a girl ran up and asked if he would sign her ass. He turned, looked at me, and said "what ya gonna do?"

Spent a night drinking with Olympic gold medalist in Skeleton Jimmy Shea. He did a corporate speaking event with us and then went out drinking with about 10 of us, great guy and an even greater story. We kept in touch for a few years after.

A friend of mine is George Wendt's cousin and he came to her wedding. Very quiet guy, unexpected.

Grew up with Andy Roddick's brother. Andy was in diapers at the time and was a holy terror.
Brett Michaels seems like a great dude. Saw him in an LA airport about that time period (91). And my sister (older, frumpy) was a fan and said hi and turned away. He wasn't having it, pulled her back and chatted her up and took a picture and made her feel really special. Then later the band boarded our plane and he saw her and started acting all excited and screamed "oh my god it's Dawn (last name) everybody! Right here it's Dawn. (Last name) Shook her hand and went to his seat never letting on she was an unknown person. Everyone wondered who she was and it was hilarious.
He really gave her a great memory that day.

Back in high school was in an after school group and worked with a girl who would later marry a Supreme Court justice. Our parents were friends and although we weren't really friends she was very nice.

That is awesome. I have never heard a "bad" story about him, only good things. He seems to just really love his fans.

I sat next to Cot Campbell at a Rotary Club luncheon. (Cot Campbell was owner of Dogwood Stables, and a pioneer in the syndication of thoroughbred horses.) We briefly discussed horses (about which I know nothing except what I learned from my horse owning family members) and then talked about my son, who was receiving a Rotary scholarship. He was quite nice.
