The past two weeks have been pretty crazy. My sister, Peg, became very ill and ultimately died. She enjoyed a great life. In the 1970s, in the early years of transplants, she had a kidney transplant. A couple of years later, she became one of the first women in the United States to have a child after a kidney transplant. She was a remarkable woman who made us all laugh.
Because I am a Pastor, my family kind of looked to me for leadership throughout her illness and death. I was more than happy to serve in that capacity. When she died, her husband asked me to preside over the funeral. Again, I was happy to help out, but let me tell you that was the toughest thing I think I've ever done in my life. I am physically and emotionally exhausted! But, I would do all over again in a heartbeat for my dear sister. Rest in peace, Peg -- 7/26/1948 -- 7/11/2016.
