OSU & NU

Why is it that Ohio st and Nebraska the only school wanting to play football this fall? I’ll give Iowa a e for effort. Are there other schools scared to speak up? Or are they used to just bend over and that it for the conference?
Here's the way I look at it. Academia hate sports unless you bring them$$ as NU does. Not only does football at NU pay it's own way but with a few others fund ALL athletic teams plus give$$ to the university to use on the academic side. Even in the big we are one of the few that can say that.

Even with more eligibility granted, NCAA must approve more scholarships and the university has to be able to afford them. Many can't. It's not just football. There will be lawsuits filed via title nine

Ironically, nebraska and ohio st are in the best positions to weather the storm if there is no season. We can go back to normal much easier than the schools that are voting to cut their nose off to spite their face.

Then tell me, why are they not fighting like crazy to reverse course on the B1G playing this fall??

Iowa reporter was on radio in Des Moines and he mentioned other schools, besides Nebraska, are quiet because the B1G has been around since the 1800’s and they do what their told. You even remember Wilson’s childish rant he mentioned the 1800’s. Very odd

Then tell us what are these other priorities.
Nebraska and Ohio St (to a slightly lesser extent, Michigan) take more pride in their own brand than the brand of being a Big10 member, athletically speaking. We don't compare ourselves to other conference teams as much as we compare ourselves to teams nationally. Granted, Nebraska hasn't been great on either level in football recently, but, for instance, in nebraska won the Big10 this year but didn't win a national title there would be more disappointment than at a school like Iowa or Northwestern.

The other schools understand that the decision has nothing to do with football programs wanting to play. The conference understands that football players and coaches want to play and coach football because they also understand that water is wet.

The conference postponed the season and they weren't going to un-postpone it and play this coming Saturday just because they were like, "Oh you guys LIKE football? Wow, huge misunderstanding!"

Schick made a great analogy on their pod, it's like going to a restaurant, you hated your meal but you already ate it, the kitchen's closed, and now you're yelling at the line cooks demanding to know what the recipe was. For what?

The B1G has billions of reasons to want football and they'll bring it back when they can. They're already out of the FBS playoff picture, so it is what it is at that point.

You're not playing as part of the fall playoff picture, you're going to have a delayed season if you have a season at all, and everyone already understands that you hate it. There's zero point to suing the conference and having parents protest and make threats. The other programs understand that their rage and making themselves look angry and spiteful does not alter the outcome. We don't.

Then tell us what are these other priorities.
1) Avoiding lawsuit (Financial loss from a lawsuit would dwarf football income loss)
2) Reputation/Student health, or at least perception of it
3) Faculty\Staff health
4) Grants/research
5) Academics
6) Revenue sports
7) non-revenue sports
8) Our opinion

that being said, I believe they should have played...

It’s sounds like the movie deliverance, Nebraska, Ohio st are Burt Reynolds and Jon voit, and the rest of the schools are the inbred mountain folks

Could not disagree more brah. You are implying that we should do nothing when something is rotten in Denmark. Apparently, and surprisingly to Desmond Howard, Nebraska still has some “cachet”. By "pouting" as you alluded to, we uncovered the conclusion to cancel Fall sports was arrived at using suspect methods. At the very least there was not open and clear communication. How a decision of that magnitude occurred without everyone on board and pulling the same direction is hard to justify. Hopefully it will lead to more transparency within the conference. You tell the line cooks they missed the mark so they can improve. Otherwise everything sucks in perpetuity. #GBR

OSU facing a revenue loss of $130.3M without football this fall, which includes $80-85M in ticket sales.

There are a lot of ways to become involved in the process and to work toward having a season. Probably most of the conference is working to find a way to play, difference is they know that letting their benchwarmers sue people won't alter the outcome at all.

Desmond Howard and Michael Wilbon are TV pundits. Their opinions and $8 get you a fancy coffee and absolutely no change in the football schedule. I really don't care what they think very much one way or the other. I do care about Nebraska poisoning the well with its second conference in as many decades.

Now explain to us why Kevin Warren isn’t pulling his son from the Mississippi State football team, but won’t let a conference with 14 members play football without telling us it was the decision made of the majority of presidents...

We all want to see the facts that they’re not letting anyone see..

Lol at "working to find a way to play". They did that 3 weeks ago and everybody was in agreement on the terms. It wasnt ideal but it was reasonable. 6 days later I guess it wasn't. Literally nothing on the ground has changed regarding protocol or the virus so why all of a sudden would they be working hard to have a season?

Hint: fear of producing documents is the only motivating factor to change course.

Everyone knows this Desmond. The goal of all this is transparency and the revelation of whether sound medical science was used to determine this postponement with roll call vote or was is it a political move by the certain governors, presidents, and the commissioner. If the freedom of information act reveals it was medical, fine. But if it proves political and no actual documented vote taken then needed heads should roll in all capacities.
