They view Rhule as legit and think NU is well positioned wrt NIL to make a move in the league.
"They need a solid, proof-of-concept year with both schemes on both sides of the ball, otherwise, it's all about recruiting. They're a sleeping giant because every other staff in the league knows what they're building in NIL. They're scary. If they do it the right way and strike deals with players who can be foundational pieces, they're going to be really good down the line. Sleeping giant was said multiple times by opposing coaches. #offseasonnatlchampes

Read the same thing from an anonymous coach in the Athlon CFB mag

Out of curiosity, and I think I know, but what is our huge NIL advantage that could potentially be unlocked with a successful program?

The only thing I could think of was the interviews were conducted before Raiola committed to Georgia and coaches around the league were worried about that. Because I'm not sure we have gotten any foundational recruits or portal players yet.

The proximal worry for those on NU's schedule is less sleeping giant and more "we can't depend on NU to beat themselves anymore".
To be fair, if we correct that one issue, most teams will have a big issue with us. Maybe not enough to take us to “giant” level, but close enough that the money, fan support and brand recognition may take us the rest of the way.

We’ve been asleep for quite a while now

I don’t really understand NIL. But I guess I was thinking our potential boosters (Buffet, etc)
It is crazy to think that Buffet could offer, what, 2 million dollars to the top 2 players at every position and it would be like me or you "donating" like 500 dollars

From what I've read in these parts, Bo Pelini was no great shakes as a coach and he was able to win 9-10 games per season by fielding a run focused offense plus a sound defense (minus Wisconsin games of course).

Bo pretty much proved himself that he wasn't a great coach. It really shouldn't be that hard to win at his level on a consistent basis and every few years have an older team or catch a few breaks and go to the expanded playoff.

Posters here have been complaining for decades about Buffet not making huge Husker donations. But that's just not HIS thing. And, honestly it's his money to do with as he pleases.

As Melvin Gordon and others run yet another jet sweep....

I’m surprised that Joe Ricketts doesn’t get more advice from husker board members on how to spend his money?

Buffett is quick to dispense his advice. NU would be better off asking him to advise them on how to develop a world class, massive endowment over time.

Buffet knows Winstom, Peters, Fraser and Osbourne, but we'd be better off asking Warren Buffett.

I feel like if we're successful, future publications are going to have an asterisk that says NIL era next to it.

You don't get as rich as he is by throwing your money away like that
Well of course not...but he is 90...he is closer to death than life. He is already leaving his kids "nothing" just 1% each or something like that...and the rest to "charity"...so why not just make one of those charities the biggest game in the state.
