Opinions on the late hit penalty?

That is a play that really is hard to call. If not reviewable: that is a bang bang play. Easily missed without the benefit of seeing a replay and the played slowed down. But I for one am not going to hang on to a supposable bad call. The WR were mugged all game. And we have had more than our fair share of terrible calls.

Is that the rule? I thought giving yourself up and getting hit while doing so will draw a flag 10 times out of 10. What I have a problem with is qbs fake sliding.. I know one did it to us.
It will, anyone saying otherwise is being intentionally obtuse.

DR is unfortunately going to catch flak from all the Mahomes haters as well, and given that Mahomes frequently draws undeserving calls, a lot of vitriol he’s getting is because of this.

Haha yeah. Mahomes flops five yards out of bounce and gets calls

If there is one thing I hope DR learns and emulates Mahomes is the ability to extend plays and take the hidden yards given to him. Mahomes excels at extending drives.

I don’t understand this fake outrage at that as well. I for one loved it. We have been missing an edge years. Loved DR fire and the team responded.
Remember when AMart got his leg wrenched by Colorado and our oline seemed indifferent? That was super troubling and a sign of things to come.

Love our offense is watching out for Dylan. Huge progress !

He's a QB that rarely runs, doesn't have a natural feel for it, and slid a little late.

The hit on his first slide is a penalty 99 times out of 100 times in today's game. Would never have been called that way 40 years ago, but it's not 40 years ago.

Have heard people being critical of the slide "intentionally" drawing a penalty.

I don't think that was the intention with that slide, but if it was, then great. That would show that he's willing to do what it takes to pick up the late first down and salt the game away.

Were people critical of the BC quarterback chucking a bomb to a blanketed receiver late in the game in order to hopefully draw a DPI penalty, and successfully doing so?

No.

Why? Because it was a play the QB made to try to get his team a first down, and he did so. Eventually getting a TD that drive.

No, that is not "the rule"

You can slide whenever you want, it is on the defender to not leave his feet and it is on the ref to make or not make a call.

Amen!

Do everything you can to help your team win, period.

Probably a bad call - it looked worse in real time than on the replay. But not exactly a game changer. Without the penalty it would have been 2nd and 5. Rahmir Johnson ran for 5 yards on the next play, and 3 more on the play after that.

If it wasn’t late, why was the defender leading with his shoulder so low? He didn’t even try to bring out his arms if he was just tackling low, and he was far to low to have a solid tackle if he was planning on hitting Dylan still running.

I don’t get how Nebraska fans complain about anything going their way. Always act like they need to feel bad about some privilege or something.

seemed like a good call to me. thats our starting qb the next 2 years..I don't want him hurt..and I like 1st downs and the other team getting flags..so it all worked out well..
and even though I like the bc coach, it's good to get him rattled and on the bad side of the refs.

I would like to see raiola work on his running game to match mahome's running game...but at the same time keeping the mahome's passing game too...so that great running and passing are in one indevidual

I am not sure that it was not a penalty irrespective of the slide. It appeared to me, both in real time and on review that the defender was going head hunting. It appeared to be unnecessary roughness whether he slid or not. When he dove for his head he wasn’t attempting a tackle. And, if you listen to DR post game that was his opinion.

I don't feel bad about it all. I just think it was a bad call.
