It was exactly one year ago today that Kevin Williams scolded a group of reporters and made his infamous "I am not a backup" comments. Injuries certainly played a factor, but in five seasons Williams started 4 of the 23 games he played in. Generally good-natured with the media and a good quote, Williams' declaration and symbolic mic drop remain stunning a year later.
Also, Williams may have broken my brain with his comments (at least what little I had to begin with). It was honestly one of the more bizarre moments in my seven years covering Nebraska athletics.
