I agree that the special teams and recivers coach needs a changing..

but let holgerson and rhule pick the best out there..I'd be ok with the special teams bill guy that we had and mickey at wr..
apparently the secondary coach needs a good off season to get his nfl secondary in order.

besides that it just seems a matter of working on blocking, tackling, running, and receiving.
transferportal/recruiting.
there's no sence crying on a message board all day.

rhule will be given time to work to fix what pass coaches have failed to do...we have a bowl game now after 8 years of fail..
and 6 wins is better then 3....I look for 9 wins next year....3,,,6,,,9....
this is a upward pattern...

Rhule won 5 last year. So he improved one game. If you are going to attempt to call people out. At least use facts. Don’t come up with lies to make your opinion look better.

ok then 5 then 6
( I forgot)
I got frost 3 win season in there

Bambi isn’t taking us anywhere. He doesn’t beat good teams. But we are stuck with him. So I’ll continue to watch Nebraska only to get upset with how they fail, get over it within minutes, and be jealous of watching football teams that are well coached. It’s hard for me to not see this as the recipe for next year

I will continue to watch as well. Just absolutely mind numbing how they lose games. 10 years of self destruction. I don’t think I have seen a team give away games and how they do it as much as NU.

That was the narrative under Frost. They doubled down and found new fun exciting ways since then.

If Rhule turns things around and we win 9-10 games next year, there are going to be so many posters here forgetting their shitty 2024 takes on Rhule.

The opposite is true as well.

I don’t hate your optimistic views. I get it. A while back I decided to live in the veil of truth and honesty.

Honestly, our team sucks and our coaching staff sucks. Honestly, there are teams with less talent achieving far more. Honestly, there’s very few teams that lose to a team after holding them to 5 first downs and doubling them with offensive yardage.

So, I think there’s a few of us that just call a spade a spade .

I went to the IU game. We looked like a high school team. The coach, after a bye, said his guys weren’t ready. This coach makes excuses. After 10+ years of this shit, we should all hold any coach to very high standards or quit wasting our time and gtfo.

That’s a huge if. Always next year. Same with the posters IF Rhule wins 6 games next year. It will again be next year.

I really thought we had exhausted the list of ways to FU a game...I was wrong
It's hard work beating the crap out of team and then finding a way to lose at the end.
It really takes some creativity on our part.
If you checked ESPN tracker we had over 90% chance of winning going into the 4th quarter. Letting Johnson run loose for a TD really hurt. We did a lot of stupid things but this loss falls squarely on the Special Teams (again). Botched snap on FG (missed FG), Ridiculous Fair Catches, muffed punt near the goal line. Get rid of Foley and get someone who actually knows what they’re doing coaching Special Teams.

I will be surprised if Rhule ever wins 9-10 games at NU. Anything is possible, but from what I’ve seen thus far, that is highly unlikely. I suspect the mean is around 6 wins a season with Rhule. Very good orator, not a good football coach or game manager.

There's a difference between you (and many others) and me.

I'm saying, "Idk if Rhule is gonna turn this thing around, but I still want to see what he can do."

You (and others) are saying things such as, "Rhule for sure isn't going to have any success here" "Rhule has shown us what we're going to see every year, fire him" "Rhule is here just to collect a paycheck, not to actually win" etc.

Basically you and others seem to already "know" how the remainder of the Rhule tenure will turnout to be while I'm saying, idk.

I'm not claiming Rhule will win 9-10 games next year like many are claiming that Rhule won't have any success here.

“Basically” haha. I will gladly eat some crow if this time is for some reason different then what we have seen for a decade. Right still in the rinse and repeat cycle.

Of course you will. That's the entire point of my original post in this thread.

Nah, I don’t know either. I could be wrong. But what I’ve observed so far is really bad. We are not a good team and we get beat constantly by worse teams who would love to coach our talent

But that’s not a point at all. And just an FYI I have never said Rhule should be canned. But his game management has been pretty awful many times this year
Then my post wasn't directed at you.

I'm not dogging on those criticizing Rhule. Just those claiming they know how Rhule's tenure will be.

You might be the optimistic one if you think we have more talent than a lot of other teams. You may be the optimistic one if you think we look like a High School Team. I’d definitely say every High School fields a better Special Teams unit than the Huskers.

When people say the Huskers are the dumbest football team in CFB I have to agree in all except a handful. Many are just not smart guys. I’m talking poor work ethic, low effort on field, low football IQ, probably not paying attention in film study. Flush the majority and hit the transfer portal!

That's fair. And I understand that you dont have a cystal ball and  actually know, but comments like this makes it sound like you think you do.

Difference is most people aren't crowning Rhule but are cautiously optimistic and want to see where things go before objectively stating that he can't work

the deal is 3 fold:

1. we went pass happy...anyone with a clue of Husker football knows running the ball produced results..
so 20 years in the wilderness and we finally got a pass happy qb..and looks to be a pass happy oc....
so why not let that play out?

2. we kinda touched base with the 1980's ksu program...where you fire a coach every 5 years...(3 years for us now) and you get on a coaching carousel....anyone with a clue of Nebraska football knows that coaches with alot of years on a team produces results..(I can't remember the apex of dr. toms coaching staff, but it was a flock of guys working along time on their craft (centuries combined)....

3. how did ksu inprove? did they fire Snyder after 3 years? 5? nay! they finally understood the coach carousel is the death knell, that keeps a program in fail!

and this is what I mean about manning up..don't get yer knickers in a kurfuffel during a rebuild, it takes tunnel vision and work...not crying around

And I’d agree.. He had some head scratchers Friday night..

Bringing in Harrberg passing for one play to run a post.
Having Carter Nelson run reverse odd play at the time why not Barney.
The big one taking the game into overtime where you don’t have to drive 65/70 yards for a FG..

Agreed on 1. If this pass happy iteration doesn’t work out, we need to go back to that identity with whichever best candidate we can find, I think. Bama and OU and others have gone through long periods of a carousel too. What gets them out is finding that rare coaching talent. Tom and Snyder are of that kind, with KSU having a lower ceiling. That’s why those two stuck. KSU wasn’t going to go anywhere by keeping someone like Ron Prince around for longer. If Rhule continues to have sub-par results, that’s what we should expect long-term from him. If I were Minnesota, for example, I’d want Fleck fired yesterday because I’d want a higher ceiling than that (otherwise, what’s the point). We might have to keep swinging and missing until we finally hit a homer.

the thing is I don't think iowa out talented us..they made less mistakes...and them mistakes are on film and can be worked on...
Iowa doesn't flip coaches every 3 or 5 years either...
