In light of Brokop's departure, I find that after the usual suspects, things get pretty cloudy (at least for me) in terms of Oline depth. Rumors have swirled that Decker may go medical and Canty make not make it to campus.
So we have Jaimes, Foster, Farmer, Wilson, Farniok, Conrad, and Decker(?). I am assuming that Raridon is in the mix. Do Barnett and Gaylord finally show or do they get passed up by guys like Sichterman and Bando? Saw some stories about promising walkons this Spring, but will any of those guys actually make a run at the 2 deep? What about Farniok the younger?

My best educated guess on the depth chart that is most likely to happen:

LT: Jaimes; Gaylord
LG: Foster; Raridon
OC: Miller; Farmer; Farniok (younger one)
OG: Farmer; Wilson
RT: Farniok; Sichterman

I don't see Barnett making the two deep.

Conrad goes from two year starter to MIA on the 2-deep?

Decker?

Conrad wasn't that great.
. Nobody is claiming that Conrad is an all-league player. But he does have decent experience as a starter. Conrad will see action this fall.

If we have to start Miller at center, we may be in trouble. My guess is, if Decker hangs it up, Farmer will be the starter and Wilson will start at guard.

Conrad got outplayed by Decker in 2017, but got pressed into duty in 16 at tackle over scholarship guys and arguably outplayed Knevel. The guy is certainly a backup option. Of all of the problems the program has had over the past two years, at least a guy like Conrad was giving effort that exceeded his level of talent. There is no reason to see him as hot garbage.

So much room for improvement with this unit. Gonna take some hard work this summer.
So true. We really need the guys up front to become blocking savages.. every one of them. It will have a direct impact on how the offense as a whole does this year.

Could differently see that happening. Miller was the center on the red to go along with the other guys we expect will be the starters. Farniok was the center on the white team for the majority of snaps.

Could also see Farniok sliding in if he gets beat out by Sichterman.

Didn't appear to be near the starter level during spring and I don't see him beating out the guys that I have listed ahead of him. Raridon is a sophomore now and making some strides. Sichterman is going to be pushing Farniok for the right tackle spot. Conrad was always getting pushed around with ease when he was at center under the previous OL coach and he had no business be there. He is a depth chart filler that will give you effort.

Some leadership and direction, and teaching of the appropriate techniques by Austin, DeMeo and company can go a long ways this season.

I didn't say he is garbage. NU needs better than that on the 2-deep to be competitive though. No getting around that. Props to him for his heart and effort though.

I believe I saw Hixson with the Reds alongside Foster (when Jaimes was out). So he may have bypassed Gaylord.

Seems we are much thinner along the Oline than Dline.

Why the switch of Chris Walker from O to D?

Why the switch of Chris Walker from O to D?

Quote from an article this spring:
Frost confirmed that Chris Walker would start out on the defensive line, which was Walker’s choice. Frost said he thinks Walker could be a good player for them on either side of the ball, but they’re going to let him try out defense to start.

Barnett is way down on the depth chart. Not much of a peep about him during spring. Wouldn't be surprised to see him follow BB and Miles.

My best educated guess on the depth chart that is most likely to happen:

LT: Jaimes; Gaylord
LG: Foster; Raridon
OC: Miller; Farmer; Farniok (younger one)
OG: Farmer; Wilson
RT: Farniok; Sichterman

The younger Farniok will redshirt and needs to put on some good weight on his butt.

At this point after spring, Miller will not start at center. Farmer would start over him as they want the best 5 on the field, although rumors say he has some issues making the calls at center.

With Farmer at center, Wilson will start at guard.

Obviously nothing is set in stone and the players can make huge jumps in the weight room over the summer and fall camp, but this is how things are looking at the moment according to Sean and Nate.

I rewatched the game just looking at who played. Looks like maybe Brokop was out? Makes sense why he left with a good 13-15 players ahead of him. Didn't seem him play. Barnett looked seriously overweight. Bando and HIxson both played a lot and looked fine. Foster played center on a few series.

Holy cow. Sichterman is going to be a good one if he can start at both RT and LT. :D
