Visiting this weekend!
“They’re unofficial official visits,” said Olds, referring to the process prospects normally undertake during the fall or winter of their senior year. “He really flips it on its head. He asks a lot of questions and is looking for the right fit.”
The consensus three-star prospect already has taken unofficial visits — on his own dime — to Pittsburgh, Penn State, Michigan State and Northwestern, among others. He’ll head to Tennessee after he looks at Nebraska. Olds expects Sichterman to make a final decision in mid-June.
“And once he shakes somebody’s hand on a decision, it’ll be over,” Olds said. “That’s the kind of person he is.”
Olds said Sichterman has handled the recruiting process well, especially as he takes advanced placement classes in high school. Sichterman has a 4.6 GPA.
He’s also a triplet. Matt’s brother, Dan, is a defensive end for Kings Mills who has an offer from Cornell and some grayshirt options, Olds said. Matt and Dan’s sister, Megan, is a top high school swimmer in the 100-yard butterfly, winning the Ohio State championship in 2015. The triplets’ mom, Judy, swam at Clemson.
“It’s a pretty unique story,” Olds said.
Matt Sichterman is an unusual athlete, Olds said. He’s all-conference in football and also a standout basketball player.
“His biggest strengths is that he’s so strong and so athletic,” Olds said. “Anymore, these offensive linemen are great athletes.”
Scout rates Sichterman as the No. 248 player in the nation and a four-star prospect. Rivals and 247Sports rate him as a three-star prospect. He’s not yet rated by ESPN.
