Dean's Dumplings
- My personnel friend Scott Frost and this coaching staff have had arguably the best summer since the Rivals Network started keeping tabs on recruiting records. Not only did this staff fill areas of immediate needs for 2018 in grad transfer Tre Neal, but also have seemingly met needs at NG by beating out perennial power Indiana for JUCO Tony Fair, OT with soon to be highly ranked Matthew Anderson, keeping the highly regarded Nick Henrich at home and beating out B1G West rival Iowa for one of their own in DE Mosai Newsom. I have been extremely close to the program for 20 years and I have never seen anything quiet like this.
- I touched on this in The 3-2-1, but Nebraska has arguably the best leadership in place since Tom Osborne and Bob Devaney. Scott has shown a quiet confidence we have not seen in 20 years and Bill does not duck question like Sean Eichorst did.
- Much has been made of the weight differences listed on the Nebraska media guide. I can say first hand that Zach Duvall has raised the bar of the strength and conditioning program and the players will only continue to benefit from the addition of Dave Ellis from a nutrition standpoint. Those who worry about loss of speed with the added weight, don't.
- One bold prediction from the upcoming season is that Nebraska will win AND lose a game they shouldn't. Get ready to strap in for a fun and wild ride.
Mike's TT Tidbits
- I've made several calls, twitter IM's and Instagram tags to potential recruits that have gone unanswered this week. However, here are a few Tidbits I found from typing #gbr into the Twitter search function:
- Tony Butler says: "DON’T SLEEP ON US!!! WE NOT THE SAME TEAM FROM LAST YEAR !!! #GBR"
- Brenden Jaimes says: "Got a lot of people to prove wrong this year...#GBR"
- and this one from Jonathan Alexander:
Munson's Musings
- Just as I've been saying all along, it was great to see NG Tony Fair finally announce official what I've already known - he was coming to Nebraska. He's a big, mean, fast, aggressive player who will make an immediate impact in the 2019 DL.
- I also would like to reiterate that when 2020 QB commit Logan Smothers left Ohio State without an offer, he was Nebraska's to lose.
- I still can't get a straight answer from UK OL prospect Bamidele Olaseni. We both speak English, but just a different kind of English and it has proven to be more challenging than I had originally hoped.
- We're going to skip right past this part as these are basketball notes and it is almost football season and nobody cares.
The Main Board
Things that don’t make sense ITT
- The fact pants are traditionally for men and dresses for women doesn’t make sense to me. Pants are close fitting and restrict movement. Men have have genitalia which get suffocated by pants. Women’s anatomy is much more conducive to wearing pants.
Meanwhile, men would greatly benefit from wearing dresses/skirts. Unencumbered and more breezy. Seems the Scots got it right
- of the original Charlie's Angels. IMHO. Probably more consistent than Drew Barrymore but Barrymore's peak is better than Fawcett's too. So really, there is an argument to be made that she is the least attractive of all the Charlie's angels, though I admittedly have never seen this show.
- I get so incredibly rustled when I see someone use battery powered yard equipment. That stuff is complete and total shit and anyone who uses it gets their Man Card taken away.
All you fagits that do this need to get ITT and take your beating.
Would you rather have the Big 10 without extra four?
- Just curious how many would rather have a Big 10 without Nebraska, Maryland, Penn State and Rutgers? With 10 teams, everyone could play each other every year. Would make the rivalry"s more interesting.
- If I could get rid of them all I would.
- Nebraska fan here, would like to add another 4. OU, KU, ND and UNC would be who I picked.
Have 2 divisions in a rotating pod system. Don’t care about Big Ten tradition. Think it’s rich you’d Like you’d rather play Purdue and Indiana over Nebraska. Liar
- Not surprising from Debbie fan whose team gave up their traditions and history to change conferences.
- UNC? the eff is wrong with you? Go dive for treasure in a sewage lagoon. I see why you would want KU tho. Guarantee at least one win a year (maybe) with them on the schedule and make the fanbase feel like they are still dominating the Big whatever it was.
- - Duvall is the best strength and conditioning coach in America
- nobody in the Big Ten develops qbs as well as Mario V
- Frost has the best track record of any coach in the Big Ten outside of Meyer
- Frost won media days and is the talk of college football on the national scene, this makes Harbaugh either happy or jealous
- turn around will be faster than most think... 9 to 10 wins isn’t out of the question, and contending for NT in 2-3 years. It will be a stoops like turn around
- Chinander is the best young defensive mind in the country, one of the best in Big Ten
- Ron Brown is a great hire
- with Mario V and S Frost, Martinez will be the best qb in the conf next year
its rinse and repeat from previous pre seasons(including last year). Yes, patience is leaving the building
- Obsess much??? Go over to the Nebraska board and there is zero threads on Iowa football. Come over here and every other thread is about Nebraska football. Talk about insecure.
- Sooo I just read that Central Florida’s starting safety Tre Neal, who was also 2nd on the team in tackles, will grad transfer to Nubraska and be eligible immediately to play this season.
Snake oil at it’s finest! First they get a commit (probably bought and paid for) that came from a lifelong Hawkeye family, and now they managed to steal UCF’s starting safety and top returning tackler?! Are you kidding me? Tell me there isn’t some shady business going on over there in Lincoln. Why would he leave UCF just a couple weeks before the start of the season.
Unfortunately, I’m pretty sure the nub’s defensive backfield was it’s poorest position group so this kid most likely will be a starter right away since he was a damn good player in 2017.
Nebraska needs to be investigated.
