Of all the games we have lost over the years, in all the painful ways, this game tops them all as the most unbelievable, terrible loss I have ever witnessed.

Iowa had one good play the entire game, literally one. They had five first downs! We more than doubled their offensive output. We moved the ball up and down the field on them.

To beat Iowa, you don't have to do anything good. Just don't mess up. And that's what we do.

I would love it if in Iowa's coaches office on the white board, the game plan is literally "Wait for Nebraska to screw up."

We've had all year to fix special teams. Haven't done it. Matt Rhule clock management sucks again. Sorry, Matt, we don't pay you 8 million dollars a year to say "My bad" when you screw up the clock.

It’s up there in our more disappointing games. Our defense absolutely owned them tonight and we let them down in every other phase.

Plenty of “ifs”… Don’t fumble at the goal line, we win. Neyor makes a simple grab, puts us in position to seal it. Raiola doesn’t fumble we have a good chance in OT.

Endless opportunities to put that game away. If you let a team like Iowa hang around, they’ll make you pay for it. Disappointing game, yet again

I can't really muster the give-a-fux anymore. It's just another loss on a list of dozens and dozens. Outside of beating the worst Wisconsin team in decades there really wasn't any reason to think we'd win this game. Shame on us for thinking this time would be different.

There's no doubt that Iowa (and other Big 10 rivals) has had that mantra for years-- Wait. Just wait. Nebraska is going to give the game away and we just need to be ready to take it.

This year was a lot like last year. We have the ball late. Last year it was an interception. This year a sack & fumble. They do a nice job of stepping up and making plays when it matters the most. And they killed us again on special teams.

Raiola should have never been in that situation to fumble.

The glaring special teams issues should have been fixed weeks ago. But not.

You are correct.

But this year is way worse than last year. Iowa at least looked sort of competent last year.

Was going to wait until tomorrow to post something similar due to letting the emotion pass, but I agree, of all the bonehead losses, including the onside kick in Ireland, this was one of the worst, if not the worst. And it is so simple to fix this - get a ****ing special teams coach.

On a side note: I think the cold weather hurt us tonight as well as the fact that this was a road game. We've got a couple players who seem to have folded under pressure and/or the cold.

Everyone knew that we would fumble it and give them the chance to win. Not surprised. It's kind of funny if you think about it. Almost as funny as hiring a .500 coach to turn around a program.
I can't really argue with you, I just don't know who else we should've hired.

I'm sorry this happened to you

It's not unbelievable I called it at half as the momentum turned ...walk of field goal....rhule was ok with that

nah. I'm just not drunk

Iowa had a lot of good plays but they were all on defense besides one Caleb Johnsons big play.

It’s difficult to express in words how disappointing this year has been. Yeah, we made it to a bowl game - but as the Iowa troll accurately pointed out, Kansas, KState, Iowa State, Minnesota, and most other hapless programs make bowl games.

To beat Iowa, especially in their building, you have to play a nearly flawless game or have superior athletes. We didn’t/don’t have either, that’s it

Refs were literally letting Iowa’s DBs tackle our receivers long before the ball got there. No flags.
If we want to compare bad officiating....Nebby got away with OL holding on a half dozen plays. Refs were in no mood to extend this game at all. There wasn't gonna be any flags, at least any close ones. Like everyone else they didn't want to be out in that cold either.

Sort of blends in with everything other loss. I don’t have a hatred for Iowa but I live in Indiana.

We aren’t on the verge of anything. Nebraska sucks. This is what they do. Only Nebraska fans think we have any shot of being good. Sad truth is everyone else is right. Nebraska is irrelevant and our identity is finding ways to lose

Matt Rhule won't do anything to fix special teams until there is a huge uproar (like with the OC position) and then maybe he will make a change. That is the part that doesn't sit well with me.

He seems to be okay with being average.. Look at our record 6-6.. our team reflects the head coach. In addition, he has so far blamed the players and not the coaching staff, yet we can see by the not shaking hands thing, that Rhule is either not the one driving the program standards, or is okay with it being driven by the players themselves.

He doesn't appear to be in control, to put it more directly.

He is like a bad step parent.. keeping himself arms length away from the family drama, pointing out where everyone else screws up, but not himself.

Maybe that is too harsh, but that is what it sort of looks like to me.

Exactly. You have to live outside of Nebraska I think to truly understand how completely irrelevant Nebraska football has become. And we did it to ourselves.

Yesterday’s game was an absolute kick in the nuts but also a big reality check moment. Because despite beating a lousy Wisconsin team and getting six wins, yesterday proves we are still the same shit program we have been for 10 years. Matt Rhule has changed nothing. Done nothing. Yesterday’s loss was a total disgrace. Rhule will end up being just one more failed Husker coach.

Hope is an amazing thing. There’s still fans here clinging to it even after watching the 47th close loss in 5 years.

This coach hasn’t done a ****ing thing. We are still the same mistake-riddled losers. We lost to a team with far less talent. They’re 8-5 btw.

We all cope. I’m not going to blame the players. They’re kids and they’re a product of the leadership that trickles down into every second of every game. This staff hasn’t changed much. I like the grit that DH brought in. Accountability seems like it didn’t exist before him in the locker room.

Go hire Georgia Techs coach. Go get a fast, smart QB and run the ****ing ball and play mean defense. I’m over this modernized trash offense that gives away games. We can still win but we need the identity that got us there. Believe it or not it’s still in every one of the players that come to this school. Get a guy that can unlock it. We aren’t going to win trying to be Ohio State. We need to try and be Nebraska

Bingo! I could not have said it better myself.
Rhule proved to me yesterday that in 2 years he has changed absolutely nothing. And we are supposed to be grateful that we will now get an invite to the pinstripe bowl in order to lose to another mediocre team.
