Odds Collins comes back?

10-20% chance of returning. Can never blame a kid for leaving. Life changing money and the sooner you get that 2nd contract the better.

Is there a high chance he goes in the first round? What's the competition like for D Tackles? I honestly don't know. If he's not getting 1st round money, I would think there is a good chance he sticks around

I have a family member who works in the sports world, and he's been told Collins will be a mid-first round to early second round pick.

I bet he would put up nice numbers at the combine and help himself to the first round. Sub 5 40 and a bunch of reps on bench.

I think it all depends on how he is graded by the pro scouts. A first round projection and I think he has to declare early. If he is projected as a 2nd or 3rd rounder then I think it becomes a much harder decision. Collins is someone who has been thought to have first round ability, but he hasn't really shown that this season. From a financial standpoint, coming back for another year in the hopes of getting into the first round could be worth another $4-$6 million in signing bonus and his rookie contract.

Third round risk and you don't go; he has the character to improve - and motor. I think you draw the money and benefits line in the sand - if you are projected to surpass it you go. I would draft him; the man doesn't give up

I think with any player, a lot has to do with their personality, their family situation, their goals, etc., so what might be right for one guy can be for someone else. I agree that Collins has not had the amazing breakout year he had hoped for. He has fewer sacks than McMullen, Freedom, or Valentine. While stats can be deceiving, I think he does need to work on finishing plays. (The fumble against Rutgers is a good example.) He is disruptive, but doesn't seem to have that extra flash to pull down a QB or back like Suh did. But, NFL drafts on potential more than accomplishment. I don't know if his potential is improved, or even better showcased, by sticking around a year.

As a Husker fan, I hope he comes back. But I hope he does well regardless of his decision.

I personally think his mind was made up before the season that he is going pro. Can't blame him. Any of us who went to college did it so we can make more money. He is doing the same thing.

Don't forget the Davis twins should be ready as well next year. We will miss Collins but the depth should be much better.

Inversely proportionate to how high he's drafted. If he's a lock to go 1st round, I'd advise him myself to declare. If he's 2nd round or lower...now it's a conversation. He's a beast, but statistically he's had a quiet year because he's been such a focus for opposing OL.

With Williams healthy and Maurice coming on, maybe he gets more 1-on-1 and goes HAM next year, ends up a top-5 pick.

Could be off my rocker but didn't MC insure himself this season (or the U helped him with it) on the risk of injury and hurting his future NFL draft status. I thought I read that somewhere prior to season. If so I would think this indicates he was getting through this season then moving on if the projection is there.

They wouldn't do it for Gregory, not sure why they would for Collins.

I remember this same talk when Suhs junior season was about up, he could of bolted early but didnt and looked how that played out, dude was almost the first pick (wasnt number 1 because the team with the first pick needed a QB). I don't have a clue what Collins is thinking right now, maybe Vince can talk him into staying in hopes the two of them can really tear it up next year.
