Odd news from Wake Forest

He was either REALLY scorned that he wasn't kept on as an assistant coach and had a major vendetta, or there will be a money trail. Usually it's a money trail, but some people get wrapped up mentally. Sounds like there's a lot of evidence, so one way or the other, it should come out.

The guy is basically ruined at this point. Never get back into coaching. Never get back into broadcasting. Probably have to move to a different state and hope he can hide his past. Whatever the reason, I hope it was worth it to him.

And this is a good example on why fired employees aren't hired back at the same employer....

Man...you would think that would be a dream job too. I have no idea how much those guys make but say he was making 75K a year (is that really high for an announcer?) you are working at the school you love and doing what you love...or maybe not!

Thanks for all of your input. I had no idea he was a former coach on the previous staff...very odd stuff. Thinking more about it, I doubt he did this for free. If so, are the other schools that may have paid for this in potential trouble too?

Mega agree on the comment above about why when you are dismissed for a job, you're usually not hired back by that employer for ANY other job too (case in point).

I'm not sure I believe other schools are paying to get the Wake Forest game plans. Not sure the market value is all that high. Also, too much risk for them and he would be singing by now. He has nothing to lose, if he is going to be an outcast, he could take everyone with him. If you are paying a guy within the program for secret game plans and you have any trust that this guy would be loyal to you, you're a fool. He is turning on a school he has been associated with for 22 years.

I agree the way to gain monetarily is the gambling aspect.

Kinda surprised this doesn't happen more often actually.

It still blows my mind how Kent Pavelka once said the coaches used to give him the first 15 or so scripted plays before every game. Pretty sure that doesn't happen anymore.

Which is particularly devious when you consider that he recruited many of the Wake Forest players he plotted against.
True, but I think unfortunately it's pretty common for fired coaches to root against their former teams. This guy was just in a position to act on it and he did something that I doubt many others would ever think about doing. It's weird that he was offered a job knowing that the new staff could (should) have trust issues with him around and secondly, most guys want to get the heck out of town. I would bet that he also engaged in talking negatively about the new staff to the players or at least tried to stir things up a bit.

You're incorrect. The coaches share that stuff in production meetings every week with the announcers.
