Was anyone else surprised to hear Cole Conrad is the top backup at all 3 OL spots this week? I knew we were thin at OG (understatement) and that he was listed as 2nd team at OT, along with Gaylord. But I thought the staff was pretty high on Decker at C and Barnett at OG. I know Barnett has been banged up off and on, but what about Decker?

They have been pretty mum on Decker. He looked good in the spring but seems to have become Claude Rains lately.

Interesting, I think most of us had penciled him in as a sure fire starter next year. I wonder if we might need to rethink that.

Co-worker says he got hurt awhile back and hasn't fully recovered. The extent I'm not privy to but what was said "is concerning".

You know... I watched Cole Conrad at state basketball a few years ago. I was really impressed by his athleticism. He was 6'5 290 and could run the floor as anyone on the court in the C2 State title game. And that game between Ainsworth and Fremont Bergan included 2 future D1 basketball players and 8 other future D2 and NAIA college basketball players.

That was almost 30 months ago. I would imagine 2 and half years of Big Boy lifting has molded him physically.

Maybe Cole Conrad will pull a Spencer Long type of transformation. Long shot maybe, but you never know. I saw Michael Decker go through the receiving line for the last goodbyes to Milt Tenopir. He wasn't wearing any other type of braces or bands that I could tell. Someone said on RSS he might have had some other issue this summer that restricted him from team functions. I don't know, I hope all is /will be well with Mr. Decker. Decker and Raridon at center would signal a good future at center. Two talented young players at a position that has lacked a dominant player for many years.

With that frame and Bball athleticism, what you've speculated may not be speculation.
