NW week PC Notes- Rahmir coming back for 6th year. Reimer back

-Luke Reimer is BACK this week -DeShon Singleton is still OUT -Excited to see our players after the by week -Not worried about the big picture, think that's been the problem with Nebraska Football in the past -Focused on going 1-0 this week -"This program's not in good shape", all of the coaches are doing a great job -“If I start talking about bowl games, I’m part of the problem.” -NW comeback last week says a lot about their character -"Look at Nebraska football over the past eight to 10 years in the second half of the season. It’s abysmal" -This team needs to learn how to be the same team every week -"When I woke up after that Michigan game, I felt sick to my stomach" -Watched the 2021 and 2022 NW vs. NE games a lot, gives credit to Frost and Martinez -Lots of things have changed on NW side since then -Heinrich Haarberg is named the STARTER -Emmett Johnson has to protect the football, but has a lot of upside -Not concerned with PPG, just wants to score 1 more point than the other team - might be boring and old school, but good in the long run -Thinks the Iowa vs. Wisconsin was a beautiful defensive football game -Luke Reimer is one of THE VOICES of this team -Luke Reimer got MRSA in his arm (crazy stuff) -Malachi Coleman will START -Offensive line has gotten better and better and better, especially in pass protection -Thought the OL paid too much attention to outside noise in the past -Doesn't listen to PFF grades, thinks it can greatly effect a players mental -Ethan Piper is playing with a broken hand -"You can't live your life on Twitter" -People in Nebraska have been very grateful towards Coach Rhule -Only wants recruits to come here if they really want to be at Nebraska -No problem when commits tell Coach they will visit other schools, tells them to "have a great time" -Rahmir Johnson wants to come back for his 6th year -Marcus Washington also wants to come back if possible -Sees the team making steps in the preparation process and their practice -Practicing tonight under the lights -Issue with Michigan game was not effort, it was a matter of not responding when things go wrong -"Embrace adversity" -Hates when the players engage with the crowd instead of focusing on the game, but if that gets them going then Coach will adapt - "I'll be new school" -Have to get Billy Kemp IV the ball more - "Have to, have to" -Not going to play with tempo, we're not there yet -Ed Foley wants to run a fake punt every week -Defense first with the personnel

While it’s not great how our WR room has been depleted (injuries and quitting) to get to this point, it should pay future dividends in throwing the young studs out there and see what they’ve got to offer. Redshirts be damned.

And even though HH has plenty of flaws, IMO he’s earned QB1 so far, keeping in mind what the rest of the QBs on THIS roster bring to the table.

"A PFF score does not determine who they are," Rhule said. "Ethan Piper is out there playing with a broken hand. He's pass protecting against No. 4 from Illinois, who is going to be a first-round draft pick, with a broken hand. And we won the game. I'd hug the guy, not grade him."

Donnie getting the most out of those guys.

3 things I want to see this week:

1. A WIN
2. More sacks + takeaways by the defense (Butler is really coming on)
3. What we have at RB (EJ, Fleeks, Ives multiple carries each)

I looking forward to my two breakout players the second half of the year.

Emmitt Johnson on offense.

The fresh Prince on defense.

Also great to see Butler coming on as you said. Gunnerson has been ok but Butler has definitely shown better since Gunnerson went down with injury. Last game was probably his best.

I believe coach was saying that both Washington and Rahmir WANT to come back and play next year, but neither knows if they will be granted eligibility.

Once again appreciate Rhule's candidness. Felt like he REALLLY wanted to say the media needs to chill with all of the forward thinking, but held back and just talked about the players focusing on one week at a time. It has to be very frustrating for a coach to watch the media pepper players with these types of questions.

Also had to laugh at his comment about "some teams" that looked good and everyone was talking up the first few weeks not looking so great on the sidelines when adversity hits. Everyone will likely focus on that as a dig at CU, which it certainly is, but I'd throw USC in the mix as well as maybe a few others.

Butler was on some posters’ list of guys who needed to be processed 🙄. He’s a good player.

Agree with all this and would add to #3 … no fumbles.

Also - great to see you embracing the press conference - Rhule starting to show you he does what he says 😁

Listening to the press conference today I was in agreement with most of what he said. I like the fact that it's truly day by day and game by game. The guy is a builder in mind and spirit. He is not buying into the noise positive or negative. He's said before to embrace the process, he means it. Stating that he wants to win by one score. We're gonna by Iowa like right now, and I have no problem with it. We're not good enough to be anything else as of now. It won't be pretty or exciting to most but we might just build something of a team and a program this year. I'm N. GBR !
