NU raiding Cal

T Johnson probably would have flipped if he wasn't already at or on his way to Berkley when this went down

Someone mentioned on another board, as of yesterday T Johnson might be open to flipping somewhere. I don't think he's actually enrolled yet. I have no way of verifying this.

He tweeted yesterday that he was staying with Cal. Though, it's recruiting, so his mind could have changed 10 minutes after he tweeted it.

Would that be a commit we take right now? They might, I have no idea what our WR board looks like. We are still after Holmes, Lewis, Lindsey, etc.

Anyone have any clue what position Michael Onyemaobi is slated to play in college? I'm hoping defensive back.

Well we are after quite a few WR and the only one who appears to be a lock is Lindsey. They have to feel that USC is a major threat if not the favorite to take Lewis.

I would think they take T Johnson and Lindsey out the gate, and figure out if they want to take 6 in the class if Lewis, Holmes and Hawkins want N later. They certainly could with Alston leaving.

I would think he'd make a decent safety since most of their DB recruiting is centered around CB right now.

They absolutely would have taken him, but he is sticking with Cal.

I wish we were raiding USC or U Dub's recruits instead of Cal's. Cal is in perpetual turmoil and coaching change. Why can't the Huskers be in the lead for great recruits instead of chasing leftovers from other programs?

When Mike Riley was hired I read at least a hundred times on this board that having a big name school with lots of resources behind him would transform Mike and his staff into great recruiters. I questioned it then and after this recruiting cycle I question it even more. He's a nice guy. Wonderful man. I bet Mike is fun to talk to and has some great football stories to tell. In the end he is still the same guy who won just over half the games he has coached in.

Mike's winning percentage at Oregon State 53.7%
Mike's winning percentage at Nebraska 57.6%

maybe...good luck getting WR's that like to catch a lot of passes (and save the Calvin Johnson at GT example). Nothing like 3rd & 7 and not having a decent shot to convert via the pass either (remember what that felt like? I do..)

GBR

Even if the below is a rumor...ought to help us with some of these Cal skill guys

I’m told Navy’s Ken Niumatalolo is a strong candidate for the Cal job. http://bit.ly/14IQx2Y

Would be a great get for them, but ya...can't see a lot of highly rated WRs wanting to hop on board.

Also, on a side note...anyone else seeing the irony/humor or Berkley going after a coach from the US Naval Academy.

I agree. Enough of raiding classes of the Cal's and Ohio States of the world...

Did we get an Ohio State recruit? I missed that. Love how

Did we get an Ohio State recruit, today? Love how you lump Cal's recruits with Buckeye's recruits. They maybe further apart in talent than the 2437 miles the two schools are from each other.

Really confused by this. Michael Onyemaobi and Taariq Johnson would both be among the top 6 or 7 recruits on Nebraska's current commit list. There is absolutely zero shame in signing guys of that caliber whether they are currently committed to Ohio State or Cal or Wyoming or anywhere in between.

If the Huskers got a 4/5 star commit from Ohio State, GREAT!. I hope we get 10 more.

So would you be pleased with a guy who has offers from Washington, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Miami, Michigan, Baylor among others? Because that's Taariq Johnson's offer list.

Michael Onyemaobi's isn't quite as good but Arizona, Arizona State, UCLA, BYU, etc. is nothing to sneeze at either.

We will not be taking 6 WR's this class

We have 7 Scholarships left to give, 4 of them will not be going to WR's. I can see maybe 3 of them.

If the right kid wants to sign we may over sign by 1 or 2

I am thinking we will sign 8 more kids

1 - TE
2 - DB
2 - WR
1 - DE
1 - DT
1 - OT

If it is only 7 I think we will not another DE

If Lindsey, Jamire Calvin, and Joseph Lewis want in I think we'd be crazy not to take all three. Plus there may be an academic casualty or two from the class and, as always, we will have a few guys currently on the team that won't be back for one reason or another. I would not be surprised to see them over-sign by 3 if the right prospects pick us.

They have oversigned by 3 every class so far, I don't see why they wouldn't do it again.

Aren't we at 14 or 15 commits? Before Alston left, the number was 21/22 from Riley and we could do +3. So we had about 10 to give at one point in time.
