NU game plan against Oregon next fall

I hope the NU game plan against Oregon next fall is similar to the UCLA game plan. If you take away a 6 yard sack, TCU is rushing for 4.5 a pop. This year Oregon is ranked 74th in rushing D (UCLA 88 after playing us). Now TCU is behind and having to pass every down and the running game is out the window.

I think we should pray, try the running attack, and petition the NCAA for 13 defenders against Oregon.

I have to agree, if Oregon's run defense is still bad, we need to turn Oz and Newby loose on them but our one down fall is we will have a young Oline and a lot of that will fall how good there play is and how well there jelling. Next year i believe will fall squarely on Tommys shoulders (unless O'Brien beats him out) and if Tommys our starter we got to turn him loose with his legs along with his arm. Dude makes bad decisions but I think he can improve that, look how well he played against a very good UCLA team and those guys have the star talent like USC, Stanford and Oregon. Here's the scarey part, we play good against pocket passers but struggle BIG TIME against the dual threat guys....what kind of QB will they have next year?

If we can hang with USC and handily beat UCLA, then we are more then capable of beating Oregon. Pac 12s top 4 has to be Stanford, USC, UCLA and Oregon.

you make the fatal mistake of comparisons. It is about how well teams match up. We need to find plenty of speed at LB to keep up with these guys.

I agree, comparing teams is a mistake, my actual point was more star power and talent more then actual comparing them. I think our success will be Tommys decision making, how well we can run on them and if they have a dual threat guy or pocket passer. Team speed doesn't scare me in the least but...again see UCLA, everyone ASSumed there team speed was to great for the Huskers and we all seen how that played out. Just like each time we played Georgia....oh there to fast, to much SEC team speed for us but look how that played out. My opinion, the whole SEC love fest and hype about how fast the SECs overall team speed being way over hyped. They are a normal conference and have the same players any other teams have, just because you commit to an SEC team doesn't suddenly make you a 4.2 40 guy.

that's a good point, I know we lose 3 guys on the oline? And we are losing Collins and hopefully Valentine comes back and makes himself a 1st rounder. But other then that we get almost everyone back, oh we lose Cross and a huge one in Nano (Do have any other FBs on the team that's anywhere near Jano?)

Oregon loses three OL starters and their QB on offense. On defense, they lose all three DL starters and three of four LBs. Return starting secondary.

So they return seven starters from a good offense, and five starters (almost all in the secondary) from a bad defense.
