The Nebraska Board of Regents approved Ronnie Green's appointment as UNL's next chancellor at their meeting on Wednesday.
The Regents approved a salary of $464,000 for Green. NU officials originally said Green's base salary would be $430,000 and that he would receive an annual housing allowance of $24,000 and a vehicle or vehicle allowance of $9,600 annually. Now he simply has a $464,000 base salary, which is roughly 26 percent more than what outgoing chancellor Harvey Perlman earned.
Green also gets a deferred compensation plan equal to 11.5 percent of his base salary, or $53,360, set aside each year. Green will not receive a housing allowance, vehicle allowance, retirement supplement, expense allowance or country club membership as the university is doing away with those types of perks in all their contracts. One flat figure makes it easier for the public to see how much NU employees are being compensated.
