NSIAP Alex Lewis tweet

Kid has a right to speak his mind just as most of us have done on the subject. At least he is
man enough to use his real identity when posting something and not use a screen name with
zero accountability for what is said. Whether we agree or disagree with him I understand why
he lashed out.
Most of the guys on this forum get their jimmies in an uproar when anyone dares to disagree
or take a different perspective than their own. Yesterday is a good example as I weed through
the vitriol.

I can't say I blame the kid, although I don't think it was wise of him to do this. Quite honestly, he might be the greatest illusionist in the history of illusionist's, because he somehow managed to make a lot of people believe he was the reason we lost. Stupid people.

I hope he understands the whole fan base isn't blaming him for the loss.

There were enough of other factors why we lost not just one player.

Will take some time to get Pelinis 'us vs the world' paranoia out of the program
When a couple of shitty "fans" start saying stupid things about or to our players how is it that the entire fan base gets blamed?

Fans are stupid. It's up to him to understand that. If he can't, then he should stay off of social media. He will deal with the same idiots at another program. I wish humans weren't ridiculous, but we are....its on the athlete and coaching staff to handle the nonsense.

I don't blame him for being upset. The crap that gets posted on message boards is over the top. Grown men (I am assuming) having their opinion aired on the internet is not my idea of how I want to live my life. I would dare say if this was how our daily lives were lived none of us would be happy campers. We want the kid to grow up and look at what is being said and not just about him. Further evidence of the decline of basic human decency.

That bump on Elder was ridiculous. It's not the reason the team lost the game, but it's exactly the type of undisciplined garbage we've been seeing for years.

We have seen examples of players getting called out on social media from other teams. This is just another case where it goes badly. If Lewis wants to quit the team that's up to him. A wise move would be ignoring social media.

It's all about...
Putting your team above yourself.
Not hurting your team.
Especially after the play is over.
Acting like a team leader.

He hurt his defensive teammates because his penalty was put upon them.

Seems like Alex reacts without thinking first....both on and off the field. Hope he gets it squared away, the real world doesn't care that you played FB at Nebraska...

This might be an opportunity for Mike Riley to help Alex and the team grow. Could be a blessing in disguise to get this mentality out in this open and change it. For anyone on the team that still thinks like Bo.

This is strange that it says it was posted before the loss. Makes me wonder if it's real. And people, Alex Lewis is a grown man. I don't think it's cool to hammer him on social media, but he should also be smart enough to not do something like this (if it's true). His play was stupid, plain and simple, and he's done this before. He obviously is full of wishful thinking and hopes he is better than he actually is. This can't come from a "captain". Garbage.

No. The time stamp says 3:46 AM and Twitter says "just now".
yeah, i guess it was posted last night, but it was confusing as it's a screen shot.. i guess it doesn't matter either way to me when it was said. I don't like the kid's attitude and this is not the appropriate behavior of a team captain. The Bo mentality needs to stop.

Maybe the first team O-Line gets to sit in first class and he had a few cocktails. I have sent emails I regretted big time after having too many cocktails on the plane.

Welcome to big time athletics. He best build up some thicker skin if he wants to compete at higher levels. You think 75% of pro players don't get grief from idiots after a bad play? Happens all the time and he needs to learn to be bigger than the idiots. I know, he's not a pro yet so he shouldn't be subject to this, but frankly no one should. But as another poster said, there are millions of idiot fans who think they are all knowing. Get used to it and learn to block them out.

and the death spiral starts - I am thinking NU
Not saying you did. If you are above normal college age, and seriously interacting with these guys, you need help. No matter who you are.
I am in 100% agreement with this - you need serious help if you following a college student on twitter or something like that

i feel like riley can and will handle this. its a growing experience if he perserveres, if not, its a missed opportunity.

I have met Alex in person and he is a nice young man. While I want the Huskers to win, no reason to spew venom at any player or coach. I believe he'll clean up his game or he'll find a spot on the bench. Agree that Alex is better off ignoring any negative social media posts.

Why for speaking his mind to a bunch of guys calling him out all day on social media?
Agree. The loss was hardly Lewis's fault, it was an entire team effort. Alex can play better, just like everyone else, but he needs to keep his emotions in check and not get a bad penalty at any time. Miami shouldn't have even needed overtime to get a win, they let their foot off the gas like so many teams do with a big lead. Lewis is no doubt frustrated by the loss as I am sure the whole team is.

This might be a bit of a turning point for this team, maybe they start to get better game to game. The only teams out there that have better talent on the schedule are MSU and Wisconsin, and I'm not convinced that Nebraska can't beat them. We shall see.

Does my forum account come with a soap box? Because I didn't get one, I need it to judge these players and decide if they should be sent packing and stuff.

If it is real, it's a non-issue to me. He is a college kid, and if you are older than college age, and you never said something stupid at an emotional time then you are a better man than most of us.

I've told my teenage son's the only difference between his high school experience and mine is social media. We could say whatever crap we wanted and still have plausible deniability. Kids these days have social media to vent, and sometimes they forget what happens when they post their feelings.

Alex Lewis catches a lot of hell, but it is apparent we don't have anyone better, so people need to lay off.

Rarely is a win as a result of one player, just as a loss is not the fault of one player.

I hope if this was the Alex Lewis, he takes about 24 hours to cool off next time before posting.

He could be reacting to call in shows too. There was a lot of bashing on him last night on Big Red Overreaction.

This is VERY serious.

It would appear that mr Lewis is not only reacting to being criticized for his flagrant penalty... but the worst part is it appears his statement is intended to do permanent harm to the program as a whole and an attempt to poison the well... affect a negative public opinion of the program and affect future recruiting etc.

Adults need to step in... this has to stop now.
