Seems odd for him to be transferring. Maybe some school with a big NIL deal is enticing him away.
You can't see what NIL offers are available until you can talk to other schools. The only way to do that is via the portal.
I'm guessing Hudson Card takes his place at ND.

Did he graduate? I really question a kid on a full ride to Notre Dame, who was their starting qb…. And doesn’t value everything that comes from playing football, and getting a degree from ND.
Well, legally of course they can't talk to other schools before entering the portal.
But I think players themselves can always talk to companies offering NIL deals any time they want. And technically schools aren't supposed to be involved in brokering NIL deals any way. BUT yes entering your name in the portal advertises that you' might be available for the right price if you haven't already pre-arranged a deal.
I'm just saying that fans should educate themselves on NIL and the Portal. It is not just because you hate the coach or where you are playing. You can consider it free agency. There are some nice stats out there on the trends. It is a way to equalize talent if used by intelligent coaches. Take 4-star Malachi. Is he really going to go sit on his ass somewhere like Georgia behind two 5-stars or use that clout to negotiate a better deal here? He does need playing time to get to the pros.
As quickly as some of these new schools have been announced I suspect some tampering (old school SEC recruiting) is going on

In theory but I think it’s pretty obvious that somebody from Iowa was in MacNamara’s ear before he entered the portal.
All of the booster recruiting that used to go on for high schoolers is now full bore on college players since the NCAA evaporated. He with the biggest booster checkbooks is going to win.
