Just some notes from recent high school track & field championships.
Cameron Jurgens has the top soph mark in the nation in the discus and shot put. He is number 9 overall in the discus and number 15 in the shotput.
After looking at meets from Nebraska, Iowa, and Colorado it appears Kurtis Cotton had the best 100M time of 10.55 sec. His 200M time of 21.55 sec was second to an Iowa sprinter’s time of 21.33 sec.
Milo Greder’s 3200M time was the best time of the 3 states.
Jurgens had the best discus throw and the second best shot put among the 3 states.
Iowa’s meet had 6 throwers over 60’ in the shot put.
Frosh Dylan Kautz’s 100M time of 10.79 sec is 5th best in the nation among all frosh.
There were some excellent 400M times from the Colorado high school girls. Seven runners were under 55 sec led by a 9th grader with a time of 52.5 sec. Her time would be number 9 all time for the Husker women. No University of Nebraska female was under 55 seconds this spring.
There are some excellent athletes in these 3 states. The Iowa boy’s 800M runner’s time was over 2 seconds faster than any Husker runner this season. A girl discus thrower from Iowa had a throw of 172’1” which was almost 20’ better than the best Husker’s time.
