Professional wrestling star and Charlottean Ric Flair was admitted to a hospital over the weekend, and a tweet sent out by his management team early Monday seeks prayers for “tough medical issues.”

Media outlets reported 68-year-old Flair was in intensive care, and that the issue was heart related.

“Are u a Fan/Friend of Ric Flair?” asked the Tweet from Melinda Morris Zanoni of Legacy Talent and Entertainment. “If so, we need prayers & positive energy 4 our Living Legend as he is dealing w/some tough medical issues.”

The ominous sounding tweet represented a change in tone from what Zanoni was saying Saturday, when she described the hospital visit as “routine monitoring” and said there was “no reason to panic.”

"The Dirtiest 'Rassler of All Time" has outlived so many of his counter parts. As you pointed out, life has caught up to Nature Boy.

I recall one match eons ago, they threw some stumble-bum in. Flair gouged the bums eyes(ala Moe Howard), worked the opponents 'nads like a speed bag, then took a break to eat a sandwich, chips and a pop while sitting on a folding chair he threw into the ring. When the opponent started to get up, Flair stuffed the unfinished sandwich into the stumble bums mouth, pulled him up by his hair, gave him a throat punch, the sandwich flew out of the guys mouth, Flair used the ropes to hold the guy up & then bashed him over the head with that folding chair! As he was leaving, Flair turned back & kneed the guy in the 'nads for good measure as he hollered out Wooooooooo! God it was hilarious.

ESPN just announced a few weeks ago, they are doing a 30 for 30 show on him. He played freshman football back in the day at Minnesota, dropped out of school and went to the Vern Gagne school of wrestling and the rest is history.

The only guys that come close to Flair were Macho Man Randy Savage and the Crusher. With an honorary award to Mad Dog Vachon.

If it is a medically induced coma, I'm guessing that he suffered a stroke. I fear that we may have heard the last from the Nature Boy as we knew him. For those of you who are fans of Ric Flair, check out his podcast sometime. He is quite a story teller and he has lived quite a life.

Years ago where I use to work I was talking about how my favorite wrestlers we're the 4 Horsemen , especially Ric Flair. A lady my dad worked with use to party with the wrestlers when they were in town and got me autographs of which ever wrestlers I wanted if they were in town. The 4 Horsemen, road warriors, Jimmy boogie woogie man Valiant, Jimmy Garvin, Black Jack Mulligan to name a few. As I was telling this my boss tells me he's going to the match this weekend and I asked if he had good seats. Turned out his mom and Flair's mom we're best friends and whenever he was in town wrestling he sent a limousine to pick up my boss his wife and their kids with front row tickets and the limosuine was waiting for them after the match to take them back home. When his youngest son wrestled folkstyle in tournaments around here and he came to watch he was just another parent watching his kid wrestle. A very down to earth guy.

Surely you haven't forgotten Omaha North's and UNL's own Baron von Raschke?

WWF came thru Omaha and performed at the Civic back in what would have been very early 80's? Saw the Hulk and a bunch of others, cannot remember who all was there but back then pretty much all of them performed at the same time, I can't remember if The Nature Boy was there or not but that event was amazing. Good wishes and prayers to you Rick!!

he is out of surgery and doing well according to my sources. The Naitch is one of the best grapplers in the buzness. his fueds with 'the American Dream' are legendary. I went to a match at Pershing in Lincoln back in the 90's and he was facing EDDIE Guerreo and he got on the mike and said he was going to kick his ass just like the Huskers do the crowd went nuts. Whooooooooooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaa

After Successful Colon Surgery, Ric Flair Remains In Critical Condition

Posted by Jude Terror August 15, 2017 0 Comments

revealed that Flair underwent surgery for a colon blockage. Further, the blockage was reportedly “the catalyst for a number of different health issues that followed including kidney failure.” Though the colon surgery was successful, Flair remains in critical condition, and, according to Meltzer, on kidney dialysis, as doctors wait for the kidney to begin functioning again.

A hard partier known for living his on-screen gimmick, the 68-year-old Flair is also known to suffer from alcoholic cardiomyopathy, a disease resulting from long-term alcohol abuse, as revealed in his 2004 autobiography, Ric Flair: To Be The Man.

We continue to wish The Nature Boy a speedy recovery.
