Even more concerning than the redshirt burning potential, is that there is no way out of Davies playing meaningful snaps.
Don't want to see another teams game plan completely revolve around throwing his way.
I'd much rather that happen. Losing a shirt off a great young freshman, due to injuries, this late in a rebuilding year? That sucks in the worst way.
If burning a shirt meant potentially getting enough wins to get the extra practices we need badly at the end of the year, I would almost rather not risk playing Davie.
But I understand my opinion is fringe, I just want to see them get to 5 and have a shot at a bowl no matter how low the quality.
I'm actually starting to believe that not making a bowl is in the best interest of our future. Get this one in the books, recruit full time, address potential roster issues, and move forward into next year. I don't know if I think bowl practices are going to help all that much.
Yep, That extra time would be better used in recruiting not practicing. Work on getting guys that want to be here and play for this coach. So what do you suggest they quit playing?I'm actually starting to believe that not making a bowl is in the best interest of our future. what he said was this : I'm actually starting to believe that not making a bowl is in the best interest of our future.I don't believe he said that. I believe he said the offseason period would be spent better hitting the recruiting trail hard and not preparing for the toilet bowl with kids who may or may not want to be here.

Riley sure is a good communicator. 0% drama, facts, and seems to be focused.
westercamp was right after the game, Nebraska is close to playing decent football. They need to just make all the mistakes together, in unison on one play, then have 6 mistake free plays. Instead of each guy making an individual mistake on each play for 7 plays in a row.

Is that what he said?Wow. People are still focusing on Davie as the source of the secondary's troubles. Do people really think it improved when he went out?
And if they do you will bitch.Next man up. Burn whatever redshirts you have to. Recruit harder.
Ummm, have you not been watching this year. They quit playing long ago.So what do you suggest they quit playing?
And if they do you will bitch.
It doesn't do you much good to focus on recruiting because there is a month long recruiting dead period in there. As I am sure you are aware, during bowl preparation, most staffs give young guys a lot more practice time than they normally get during the season when you are constantly preparing for the next opponent. Good opportunity to start building for the future.
