Does anyone know why UNL would schedule a basketball game in the middle of the day in the middle of the workweek? Just curious if anyone knows the reason.

Not sure "UNL" looked at this and said "Hey, let's play at 3 on a non-holiday Wednesday"

My only guess would be the Holiday bowl is the same night, scheduling is done in advance so probably covering their ass. I've checked around online a little bit and couldn't find a reason. We're also curious as to why.

Just a big day for Big 10 basketball.

Wednesday, Dec. 30
Indiana at Rutgers, 1 p.m. (ESPN2)
Michigan at Illinois, 3 p.m. (ESPN2)
Northwestern at Nebraska, 4 p.m. (ESPNU)
Penn State at #4/4 Maryland, 5 p.m. (ESPN2)
Minnesota at Ohio State, 7 p.m. (BTN)
All times Eastern

The Big Ten would have started their season with games today (30th) and tomorrow (31st) but the football championship semi-finals were locked in by ESPN for the 31st. Not wanting to lose audience to that ESPN lovefest they (the Big Ten) scheduled their opening conference games for the 29th and 30th. NU had no choice on the start time for this game, in fact someone asked a Big Ten official why it was scheduled for 3:00 PM and the alleged reply was "because it wasn't scheduled for 12 Noon".

Smart move to have the games yesterday and today. People's interest is going to be on the Football playoffs tomorrow.

Not sure why some Husker fans don't like the UNL reference .You must be a Jaysker because those of us who are UNL grads aren't offended.

Ummmm... no. I was making fun of the guy for his claim that anyone at the University had control over the start time.

We are terrible at defending the pick and roll. McVeigh, Fuller, and Tai look lost on pick and roll defense. I'm amazed Fuller is still with the team at this point. He has D2 athleticism at best

Pardon from NW burned his redshirt less the a week ago is playing in just his 2nd game. He's completely dominating NU.

Fuller is the guy who needs a true big man the most. If we had one that demanded just a little bit of respect, he just might be able to get open and shoot.

Shields can't go left and every opponet knows it. CU coaches yelled it at their players this year.

if NU was to get to 5 conference wins this year, NW at home was one they needed to get. Instead, the Huskers get run out of their own gym.

Maybe we need new facilities.

Couldn't watch the 1st. Had a bad feeling when I heard Nebraska went 7 of 15 from 3, and 1 turnover at half, and we're up by.....3.
You play that we'll offensively and up by that little, just waited for the tide to turn. Of course when the lead went to 12 I though we had it in the bag.

NW had much better execution the last 8 minutes of the game that is why their going to win.

Still a two-possession game with about :45 to play, and NU lets a missed Northwestern FT hit the floor. Nice hustle, fellas.

what a pathetic display of basketball down the stretch .. disgusting

made a freshman who barely plays look like Lew Alcindor

It's all but official. ..Nebraska is the worst basketball team in the big 10. Wow how embarrassing! !

To be fair, there's no way Miles could have known you'd need a big man to compete in the Big Ten.

That, and we obviously need to upgrade the facilities.

Our offense is stagnant against zone defense. Every time. It's like playing against the blackshirts. You pass the ball if you have a quarterback with an intact rotator cuff.

Is Miles untouchable because Osborne hired him? That's the vibe some want to convey...

We just let a true freshman in his second career game go for 28 points and 12 rebounds....I guess the young excuse for Miles will not fly for this loss. 10 Big Ten losses in a row folks......

I still think we are better than Rutgers and Minnesota. But, we do suck. Miles is about to go under.500 again...in his fourth year. Not good enough.

I like Miles as a person, his track record shows he can build a program at lower levels but I have changed my mind about his ability to do it at a power 5 school.
