Football recruiting has been set back with no visits in June. Some chatter up here in Gopherland on sports talk radio about the NCAA extending this no official visit policy till August. Great.

It’s been talked about in several articles I’ve read. It’s the coaches that don’t want to try and do both prior to the season. They just want July and August to be about their current team. Then once the season starts in September have recruits back on campus.

It makes sense, no spring practice and no S&C since. Take 2 months and deal directly with your team and continue with the virtual meetings with recruits.

The last thing college leadership and coaching staffs should do after bringing athletes back this summer and telling them to stay away from the general public as much as possible (and nearly quarantine), is to start flying in lots of families from across the nation for recruiting visits to intermingle with everyone.

I believe Mike Schaefer said that the thought might be that the priority with the NCAA right now is to play football in the fall. Period. And not to add anything ahead of that could lessen the possibility of playing football in the fall.
