I wanted to see us be competitive in the B1G championship game. We missed it. Failure.

Rinse, lather, repeat next season.

Can't argue with you. Very disappointing.

Can you imagine how even worse today would've been had NU managed to win in Columbus and then laid this turd -- giving the West to the Badgers.

If we would have beaten Iowa today and Wisconsin wins tomorrow I don't see how this season would have considered unacceptable. Only regular season losses would've been to two Top 10 teams.

Not that I would be satisfied with this season, but far from unacceptable.

You are nuts. It as if you saw NU get to 7-0 and actually believed they were championship material. We weren't. Our biggest weaknesses were exposed today and none of them have quick fixes. Takes years to recruit quality linemen on both sides.

And the mediocre attitude of some players has to go. Everyone on the team (Coaches Included) must demand perfection or get the heck out of the way and let someone else take it over.

The attitude adjustment comes from the players. The coaching staff sets expectations and lets the players police themselves. This is their team and the leaders need to develop and do those things. The staff has given them the tools to do this.

I hear ya. I also hear the Head Coach, whom I will trust knows a little more than you, saying its everyones fault.
All I can say is, I hope they all get a stiff dose of reality and realize they all (once again, Coaches Included) need to work their aces off every day until next year comes, to get to where we need to be. Right Now, there are a bunch of guys who take plays off and YOU CAN'T. Every play matters, Just like every game matters.
I will add, Talk is talk and walk is walk.

How do you know this? Literally, how do you actually know that this staff has set proper expectations, more than just talk, actual practice and philosophical standards that bring out the best in players? Ready for proof.

Anyone think Saban or Urban come here and lose to Iowa 40-10 (even if its only their 2nd year) and blame it all on the players???

They are tasked with changing the culture from a micromanaged dictatorship to a team centric culture with real accountability. These things take time to change. The types of guys we had on the roster as uppeeclsssmen were conditioned to be externally motivated by their fire breathing dragon coach. That kind be sustainable for a few drives or series or maybe even a half but it falls apart. The change is drastic and painful but worth it for for sustainable change. This has been discussed at length by the players and staff and you just have to know what to listen for when they talk about this shift going on.

Thanks for giving me no evidence that quality expectations are presented, practiced, and enforced.

Have you not paid attention to anything this year?

I'm posting what I know to be true from listening to what the coaches and players have discussed. They are playing the long game and fans always have this great ability to look at the most recent result and extrapolate to the extremes.

Urban would never have taken this job with the roster we had. NEVER. And neither would have Harbaugh. Harbaugh, Saban and Urban ALL KNEW the talent on those rosters before they ever took those jobs and yet Saban crapped the bed early at Bama.

Oh, sorry I thought we were all serious adults and didn't think news press conferences where people say things like "we are trying" is to be taken as evidence that proper expectations are properly coached, expected, and enforced.

All I asked for was actual evidence that the coaches have " given them the tools to do this". Maybe they have? Sounds like he's assuming.
And you're the one living in your own world, as proven by my posts slamming your view that tom played cupcakes.

Still calling names? I guess you win. Tom did play a bunch of cupcakes just like everybody else trying to build a resume to be considered for a top bowl game and national ranking.
.
I love how you keep proving it. Makes it so easy, and it's not "calling names" when you prove it absolutely true. Must really bug you to be wrong to have to bring this to another thread.

Go fix your back. This staff will never win a conference title let alone get to the playoffs. Ive seen enough. Same results, different university. Anyone who thinks different is fooling themselves. Same bottomfed season except the coach has his PC speech memorized after 20 years of ass whoopins and hes nice to our overly sensitive reporters. Wow, same bottomfed 9 win season. At least hes nice, right? Pathetic.....

Dingle you may want to re read it. The question was not whether those guys would come here.
I understand a little bit of what you are saying Safety. Its one reason I am ready to see new players, especially at the quarterback spot. I just seem to lean towards thinking a crazy good coach can get through to the player or he doesn't let him play. I know Tommy is a senior, but... It's seriously risky for a coach to just say go mess up buddy (2 years in a row mind you, Thats a lot of time they have had with him), I will still have a job next year and I will start another qb then.
Or do you think that everyone in the state would throw a fit if Tommy didn't start this year. So is that why they let him start and rolled with him until the very end, no matter what?
Maybe I am just old school.. I long for the days where the coached played the very best or gambled on the youngest qb to prepare for the future.
I apologize, Smiling in defeat is something I don't do well. I have respect, But I am never laughing and happy about it like our Qb was today. Just saying...
I honestly do not think Urban would have ever done this. In fact when he lost several Qb's he still had another one perfectly prepared to go.
