When Callahan got fired Joe Ganz seemingly came out of nowhere and had a top 3 season in NU QB history in 2008. Pelinis first year. Will we see something similar out of haarberg or Torres with Rhule?

Probably.

Or Synek or Pauley? Who knows. But what I do know is if Rhule and Satterfield anoint Sims without legitimate competition, and if he stinks up the offense and they don't replace him even if injured, then we are in for more of the same as we have endured for many years.

Joe Ganz put up huge numbers with Callahan...broke records. Bo decided to keep offensive staff which allowed Joe to transition smoothly. Rhule is a defense/special teams oriented coach who will be installing a new system with qbs who are either injured or new to system. So no Ganz.

Didn't Ganz finally get his shot once Sam Keller got injured? Another case proving that quite often coaches don't know any more than we do. And that ain't much.
Coaches base their decisions on what players do better in practice. Usually the ones who do better in practice do better in games, although there are exceptions to the rule. Joe Ganz was an exception to the rule.

coaches tend to be either "ride or die guys" or "hot hand" guys. Frost, Bo, and Riley were all "ride or die" guys. It'll be interesting to see what Rhule and Satterfield are.

No reason to think Rhule and Satterfiled would do that, as they are on record as saying best player plays. But I 100% get your take. Frost ****ing hurt us bad. Shit doesn't heal overnight.

We’ve struggled getting rockstar QB play, and I agree coaching played a role. I’m still bitter at Verduzco for prohibiting his QBs to work with private coaches in the off season.

The other element we often discuss separately is that our OL has likely ranked in the bottom third off all FBS teams the last few years. Hard to get much out of a QB who can’t be protected.
