New Staff ?

Ruud & Austin are at least 2 former Huskers who will be returning with Frost. Hopefully, @Biff Bridges & others who have been anti-former Huskers including but not limited to Frost will appreciate how badly we need these guys right now. Dominic Raiola laid it out very well in the Journal Star article. Riley, Cav, etc are all nice men but they took us to the lowest level since Bill Jennings who was also a nice man. Getting some Husker winners like Frost, Ruud, Austin, etc & whoever else Scott chooses may be our last hope to get back to the top. They know Nebraska, winning, coaching, motivating, etc. Hopefully, everybody will support them. GBR!

These coaches are smart and good teachers. My only worry is they may promote out....but they will lay into players who don't uphold the brand. Can you imagine having Ruud, Austin, and Frost come at you in practice when you don't finish off a drill? Compared to Riley, Diaco, and Cav? Lol

Again, Riley, Diaco & Cav all cared & are nice men but just aren’t top caliber winning coaches. Bo was a prick but he could at least 9 & 10 games per year even while switching conferences. Now we get the best of everything with winning & motivating coaches who bleed Husker red. Been a long drought but the rains are coming.

And with all the drama going on at other schools it's like we won the golden ticket onto Noah's Ark!

Nothing more refreshing than a nice rain. Like Frost in the morning too..... sorry if that doesn't sound good..... Frost and a cup of coffee.

A staff made up of a bunch of former players isn't going to put hardware in the case. A few here and there...... sure.
This program is to the point that they need to get the best that the best money can buy. Might as well go down throwing million dollar haymakers.

There is nothing more authentic than to see grown men protect a brand that they love. These men bleed husker red and that has to pass on to their players. Our past regime had no loyalty to Nu, a few of them were hoping to promote out, and Riley thought it was a real nice place, but couldn't possibly understand what this place was like when OU came to town in the 80s, in the rain and cold, and two great, tough teams fought it out for the pride of their program and their state. They couldn't understand us beating a #2 Colorado with a backup qb, and what that stadium was like...they couldn't understand what it was like to have a population of 1.5 million people, somehow spawn the greatest team in history. The greatest team, NU has done things in the modern era that have not been replicated. We HAVE to have coaches that know that, remember that, but truly feel it.

Agree, I wouldn't mind seeing a few former players, but playing and coaching are 2 different things. Lets get some proven big time coaches in here as well.

Not saying you aren’t right. But also saying you are either. Do you think Osborne’s staff early on were sought after? McBride, Tenopir, et al, ended up as legends but when they started they were likely unknown.

Just saying we can’t predict success or failure simply because they were former guys with Husker ties.

I don't think Cav is a nice guy. He steals the meals and the leftovers.
That must have been why he peeled out of the parking lot. His box was full of stolen twinkies.

So how does everyone seem to know so much about how these assistants coach? It is assumed they are hard nosed and intense teachers but are they?
Back in Solich's waning days, he went out and got an NFL LB coach to be the D-coordinator. He also brought in former Huskers Jimmie Williams and Marvin Sanders to coach position players. That D was pretty damn good. I can only hope next years D will improve even more. It is hard not to when you are next to last in the NCAA in D.
