New season for everyone..

Well it is a new season and good luck this season. Really believe you have a team that could be very good. As long as your OL holds up and your talented young DL grows throughout the year. You have very good skilled players and your LB, CB and safeties look very strong. WR and RB should be the strengths of your team.

Last year was just one of those years the ball bouncing the wrong direction for you. But that is why they play the game. On paper means nothing. For the Hawks, we had some breaks and made very few mistakes, which means we were well coached and discipline. It will be hard to repeat last year, but again, it is why we play the games. Yes, I know our schedule helped.

Anyway, excited for the season and hope we are both undefeated come Thanksgiving!

Curious question, what do you think of “parity-based” conference scheduling and Iowa gaining an advantage?

I think it goes against the whole idea of sports and a level playing field. I would hate it more if my school was considered a lesser program and in need of help.

I think it goes against the whole idea of sports and a level playing field. I would hate it more if my school was considered a lesser program and in need of help.

I am not defending Iowa conference schedule but really Iowa does not have much control over who the conference schedules. I wish it was more balance than it is but what really can affect the comparison is the strength of the teams. Penn State has gone down so much it does not help Iowa this year. Do not get me wrong we may not win the game there, but they are not the power they have been.

Michigan has really struggled and Michigan St. has been a lot better the last 4-5 years. Ohio St is who there are. And realistically, I thought Nebraska would not struggle as they have. You have had talent, and do not get me wrong, but I think even Nebraska fans thought they would of done better in the BTEN West than they have. You have a storied program and should be proud.

Wisconsin, well go back in history, they were not always this strong. Iowa has it ups and down.

I would like to see each West team have to play Ohio State every other year. Now what happens if Michigan State starts to go down and Michigan rises? I think you need to define the strong teams that are consistent and make sure teams from other division have to play each as much as the other.

But it is the luck of the straw, will you play them when they are at their best or maybe weaker.

I would love everything to be balance. Really, the Big Twelve has it where there is no question, everyone has to play each other.

But, as we know Money talks and the Big Ten going to 9 conference game, lets hope in balances out.

Heck, I do not know if I just made sense or not. Time to crack a beer.
