Still waiting on the last new coach to be named. I wonder what the hang up is? maybe he's still coaching or we've struck out on the few names that have already been rumored and the search continues. I know this question has been beaten to death (sorry) but I'm hoping someone has something to add to the discussion.

Beat me to it... Is Rathman still coaching in the league?
Rathman retired either last year or the year before that, I know it has been in the last 1-4 years. He has no desire to recruit, at least that was his position in the past.

He must be coaching at Alabama or Georgia. If we don’t get an announcement by Tuesday I’m afraid that says they can’t find anybody.

I think we've got our guy but it's caught up in contractual stuff? Someone more knowledgeable than me (which is literally everyone on this board) feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Can I throw Burton Burns name out there on the wish list if Joe Judge is fired in NY ? Is he too old?

The guy has had an amazing career, but he is 69 years old. Hard to imagine him wanting to go out on the road recruiting at this point in his life. My pie in the sky, probably don't have a chance, choice would be Jeff Nixon.

AWESOME! Very Happy to see this! a huge group of players at TCU come from my kids high school and NU has neglected looking here... hoping that Applewhite gives these kids a look and brings some of them north! Aledo is literally the most dominant team in Texas for the last 10+ years
Who has Nebraska missed on from Aledo?

I've been pretty keen on following the team and have never heard of this school. I suppose you can't be accused of missing if you didn't have any targets there. Was Beck that last coach that had Texas ties?

Off the top of my head, the D1 kids from the last 4-5 years I've been here are:
Jase Mclellan & JoJo Earl both play for Alabama
Filiaga is starting on Michigans OL
Wyatt & Wes Harris (brothers), Sam Forman and Colt Ellison at TCU
Money Parks at Utah
Jake Bishop is at Texas Tech

there's a bunch in other tiers...

and Aledo made Raiola run for his life this year as a top QB recruit...

A buddy of mine showed me a tweet that Filiaga is transferring to minnesota for his final year. Not sure how Fleck pulled that one off.

Seems like Applewhite would be a good hire. Experienced. Spent his career mostly within the original Big 12 footprint. Tangible results in his bio.

Bryan Applewhite joined the TCU football staff in February 2020.

In his first season with the Horned Frogs, three running backs had 100-yard rushing games. True freshmen Zach Evans (7.7) and Kendre Miller (7.2) had the second- and fifth-best season yards per carry averages in TCU history.

Before coming to the Horned Frogs, Applewhite served the previous five seasons as running backs coach at Colorado State. In February 2018, he was promoted to the additional duties of recruiting coordinator. Two of the Rams’ top-five season marks in total offense and points per game came during his time in Fort Collins.

In his four seasons at CSU the Rams have posted two of the top five scoring marks in school history (3rd—35.3 in 2016 and 5th—33.4 in 2017) and two of the top four marks for total offense, including a school-record 492.5 yards per game in 2017 (also 4th, 462.5 in 2016). Also in that span CSU’s running backs have posted 24 individual 100-yard rushing games.

In 2018, Applewhite’s running backs helped contribute to the 10th-best yards-per-game average in CSU history (410.5). He helped guide senior Izzy Matthews into the top 10 in school history for career rushing yards, finishing 8th with 2,654 yards, and to the No. 4 spot on the all-time rushing touchdowns list (30).

The 2017 Rams also set school records for first downs per game (25.5) and third-down conversions (50.3%). Senior Dalyn Dawkins earned second-team All-Mountain West honors in 2017 with 1,399 yards (fifth on CSU’s single-season list) and finished his career third on CSU’s all-time rushing list (3,185).

A player named Money is automatically 5 stars, no?
