The idea he is throwing out to not let freshmen play and to make up numbers by allowing teams higher numbers of recruits will hurt parity and will neutralize the advantage of NU's walk on program. The Alabamas and Ohio States would take recruits away from teams like NU who signed w/ other teams because their first choice teams ran out of scholarships. We also would lose good walk-ons who could now get scholarships at other schools if they had more to give. Finally, this would allow all teams to have the bigger rosters that NU has enjoyed through the walk-on program. This proposal seems ideally suited to work against teams like NU. The rich would get richer and the poor would get poorer.
