In a pandemic world, TV money is king. Networks also have their own investments, and advertisers have long term deals and no viewership if there isn't a season. There are a lot of rich people with their hands in the CF pot. This is the reason leagues can't break from one another to form temporary regional schedules that can play based on regional covid conditions. This is the reason the networks want staggered seasons with less competition for viewers. They do not care about competitive balance. A power 5 college football game means money and there will be power 5 college football games every Saturday all the way through March or April next year. This also explains the dropping of non-league games so quickly, even though there isn't really a valid reason, those games keep the patsys afloat and give an extra home game. . A 9 month season with continual in league power 5 contests is the perfect scenario for broadcast interests attempting to keep the bottom line as similar to 2019 as possible.

College football alone generated almost $1.2 billion in ad revenue for U.S. television networks last year

Networks may drive the decision to get the B1G back sooner, not stagger. They want no part of a winter basketball season and trying to get football in also with subpar players.

Main stream media is losing their audience. What you are seeing are the thrashings of a dying entity as it is struggling to gasp for its last breaths.

This is the dumbest thing I've ever read.

1. FOX holds the Big Ten's top tier rights. They were shocked and pissed as hell by this decision. Their advertisers have zero interest in Baylor @ Iowa State.

2. ABC/Disney/ESPN will be showing Cornhole matches at 12 pm Central thru late September. You really think that was by design?

My god this is dumb.
