My wife and I are considering a move to the Lincoln area. We don't have children and are not heavily in debt. How much income will we need to live comfortably? TIA
I would think it would depend on your lifestyle. My wife and I are considering a move to the Lincoln area. We don't have children and are not heavily in debt. How much income will we need to live comfortably? TIA
You'd do fine then. Lincoln is very reasonable for cost of living. My recommendation would be to jump on zillow.com and get an idea for what the kind of housing you want costs. Once you know what your mortgage/rent is going to be, the rest is easy to figure out. Compared to Denver, you're going to find Lincoln to be cheap. My bad, should have been more specific. We are both non-drinkers, non smokers. We would be fine renting or buying a condo. Our lifestyle is not extravagant in any way. My question was more about salary negotiation as I don't know what is fair pay in the Lincoln area. Maybe this will help. In 2013-14 we made about 75,000 in Denver and were fine. TIA

I don't know your background and others may disagree or times may have changed, but an out-of-towner looking for a $75K job in Lincoln won't be easy. Local firms hire all the UNL grads right out of school, and then no one ever leaves.

I made the move last year from Lincoln to Des Moines... I know right
I found this site to be pretty helpful http://money.cnn.com/calculator/pf/cost-of-living/
Says you would need to make around 62K in Lincoln to compare to your 75K salary in Denver.
