1. Ryan Boldt CF
2. Jake Schleppenbach 2B
3. Ben Miller DH
4. Blake Headley 3B
5. Tanner Lubach C
6. Austin Darby RF
7. Austin Christensen 1B
8. Christian Cox LF
9. Wes Edrington SS

Bottom 1st

leadoff single followed by a groundout to 2nd to move the runner to 2nd. A FC groundout to SS gets the runner at 3rd but puts a runner at 1st. A great play by Kubat gets the final out.

We certainly look more awake today.

Top 2nd

Headley pops up to LF but an error on the attempted catch allows Headley to get to 2nd (should have been a double technically because his glove never touched the ball). Lubach lays down the SAC bunt to move Headley to 3rd. Darby drills a SAC fly to the warning track, Headley scores. AC singles to RF. Cox flies out to the RF warning track to end the threat.

Bottom 2nd

A leadoff walk followed by a single to right to put runners on 1st and 2nd. A failed SAC bunt attempt gets the lead runner at 3rd for the 1st out. A 5-3 Double play ends the inning!!!

Top 3rd

Wes with a leadoff walk followed by a single to RF by Boldt! Shlepp lays down the SAC bunt to advance the runners to 2nd an 3rd! Miller with a SAC fly to plate another Husker!!! Boldt remains at 2nd. Blake Headley is then intentionally walked to put runners on 1st and 2nd. Lubach K's to end the threat.

Top 4th

AC with a one out single to LF. AC tried stealing 2nd but Cox is called out on batter interference so AC has to go back to 1st, two outs. Wes grounds out to 3rd for the 3rd out.

Bottom 4th

one out infield single for the Hawkeyes, groundout to 3rd advances the runner to 2nd. Groundout to SS ends the inning.

Top 6th

Headley with a leadoff walk and Lubach lays down the SAC bunt to move him to 2nd. Pitching change for Iowa.

Headley advances to 3rd on a balk. Darby pops out to SS for out #2. AC walks to put runners on the corners. Cox walks on four straight pitches. Another pitching change for Iowa.

Wes Flies out to CF to end the threat.

And that's what separates the average and really good teams. We consistently seem to fail on driving in runners, even with less than two outs. I think they are pressing so hard to deliver and break this trend they just make it worse. Don't know how to get them more relaxed at the plate in these situations but Kirby or DE or someone needs to help these guys stay focused at the plate but not so intense they over swing/press to the point of failure.

Bottom 6th

Leadoff single to CF for Iowa. RBI Triple for Iowa, still no outs. Groundball back to the mound for out #1. The next batter walks to put runners on the corners. A 6-4-3 double play ends the inning!!!

Damn... leave them juiced and this is what we get. Gotta capitalize!!

To be fair it was a decently hard hit by Wes, just right at Toole. Iowa also snagged a couple legit hits yesterday in the 9th to hold onto that lead.

But I do agree that is a major weakness of ours overall.

Top 8th

Darby lines a two out double down the RF line. AC Flies out to the warning track to end the mini threat.

I believe we've had about 5 or 6 balls hit to the warning track today.

Bottom 8th

Leadoff triple for Iowa and a SAC fly brings him in to tie the game 2-2. Kubat's day is now over as Jeff Chesnut comes into pitch.

A one out double down the line puts a runner on 2nd. The next batter pops out in foul territory to 1st base. A four pitch walk puts runners on 1st and 2nd. Another walk loads the bases. A much needed groundout ends the threat!

Boldt with a two out single. Schlepp grounds out to 1st to end the top half.

Bottom 9th

Back to back two out singles for Iowa puts runners on 1st and 2nd. Another single to RF but Darby with an amazing throw to gun the game winning run at home and send us into extras!!!

Bottom 10th

Garret King now in to pitch for the Skers. One out double for the Hawkeyes. A walk puts a runner on and an infield single loads the bases with one out. A strikeout makes it two outs! A walk off RBI single wins it 3-2 for the Hawkeyes as they take the series.

May hang out with the family this 2nd game but I'll try to add updates when I can.

5 hits in 10 innings. Well done guys. The concept with this game is to score runs. Perhaps we could recruit accordingly..

Done listening today. Don't care to listen to us get swept by Iowa. Good Lord..
