I work for the athletic department at UF for the baseball team, and I've had the privilege of watching their very successful season thus far. I know the coaching philosophies are different between Erstad and O'Sullivan, but it's incredible how much power is on Florida's team compared to the Huskers. Before last night's game, this Husker team has hit only a couple homers. Harrison Bader, the left fielder for Florida, had 8 HRs the last time I worked, which was last week. I think most of Florida's lineup has at least one homerun. It probably does help that the stadium is fixated so that the wind helps balls carry, but these guys can crush it.
So is it power that we lack? Or is it Erstad just playing small ball? Or is it he's playing small ball BECAUSE there is no power? However you look at it, you have to be impressed with this Florida team. They are a lot of fun to watch, and I feel like they would crush the Huskers if they played right now. Not only does Florida have power, but their defense rarely makes mistakes, and they are very fast. I would not be surprised to see them in Omaha, with a legit shot at winning it all.
