Game 2 of Red-White Series Tied, 2-2

Lincoln, Neb. – The Red and White teams played to a 2-2 tie in Game 2 of the Nebraska baseball Red-White Series at Hawks Field on Sunday night. The Red team had previously won Game 1 by a 5-0 margin on Friday night.

The White team jumped out an early lead, scoring both of its runs in the second inning. Sophomore Mike Waldron’s single batted in Brady Childs and Alex Raburn. White team starting pitcher Matt Waldron threw four scoreless innings.

The Red team responded with two runs in the fifth inning. Sophomore AJ Johnson started the inning with a double before Luke Roskam was walked. Angelo Altavilla’s single brought in both Johnson and Roskam.

The Red team outhit the White team, 5-2, with freshman Jeff Athey producing a 2-for-3 showing. Red team pitcher Nate Fisher threw two scoreless innings.

The finale of the three-game series will be Tuesday (7 innings), starting at 4 p.m. (CT) at Hawks Field. It is open to the public and free to attend. Gates will open roughly 60 minutes prior to game time. Concessions will be available at Haymarket Park on a limited basis.
