NCAA votes to give extra year of eligibility to D1 fall athletes

This is actually a good thing for us with D Williams, M Dismuke, J Domann, D Bootle, D Mills, J Stoll, M Farniok, B Stille, C Miller, W Honas, B Wilson and possibly B Jaimes.

Brenden Jaimes might be the one guy that opts for the NFL. I’d have to assume the rest will come back. Hopefully Jaimes will too. If not, I feel pretty good about B Banks or T Corcoran being ready to take over.

Need to increase scholarship limits for a year also. 15 extra for football or something along those lines.
no doubt, they almost have to doing that. At least temporarily.
And, sadly, that will be a burden on a lot of athletic departments and some may choose not to fill those if given the option, even temporarily.

Exactly. What's the point of eligibility if you don't increase scholarship. But then again what school can afford to increase scholarship when cutting budgets and staff. Darn socialistic marxists

It hurts this years juniors that were hoping to be "the guy" next year, but as a senior will be competing with last years seniors once again. The following year we'll probably see a big drop in the quality of football because the sophomores that would have been getting more reps as a junior will be seniors and have less game experience.

FTR, I think this was the better option but there are consequences that make it less than perfect.

Do you extend the juniors eligibility for another year since the 5th or 6th year senior stays on and takes his playing spot? What about the sophmores who face the same delima the next year? This will become a snowball growing to an avalanche. Once again, feel good academias trying to fix a problem they created over fear and lack of evidences.

It most definitely complicates things going forward.

I would sympathize with players who are negatively impacted. While it doesn’t make it better for them, the other side of the coin is if you want playing time, be the better player.

But yeah, this will get messy.
