I hope badly we end up in an 'off' regional and not a national seed.
In theory that means we need to be in the top half of the #3 seeds. Basically, ranked 17-24. We are 21-28 in the polls so people who follow the game closely think we're around there. Making it to Sunday would sure help solidify something around 20.

That said, there's not a huge difference between the #8 national seed and the top non-national seed host. I'm more concerned with who is in the regional and how we match up than the numbers next to the names.

D1Baseball's Stock Report. The Big Ten section..

Big Ten (4 bids)
SAFELY IN: Michigan,Nebraska, Indiana

ON THE BUBBLE (IN): Maryland

ON THE BUBBLE (OUT): None

No change from last week.

The top three teams are locked in. The Wolverines and Hoosiers are both in the 20s in the RPI and have solid metrics, while Nebraska is safe even with a No. 41 RPI after winning the regular-season title. Even a winless showing in the Big Ten tourney couldn’t knock out Nebraska now.

But Maryland has slipped onto the bubble by losing its last four regular-season series. On the surface, Maryland still looks OK with a 15-9 conference record and a No. 33 RPI, but their negative momentum undermines their case a bit, and their 6-10 record against the top 50 and 9-10 mark against the top 100 are below-average for an at-large team. We still think Maryland is on the right side of the bubble right now thanks largely to that RPI, but if somebody other than these four teams wins the automatic bid, Maryland might find itself squeezed out. There is a chance that the Big Ten could get five bids, but the Terps probably need to win a couple games to make that happen.
